• Spectrum of MRI features of HS-related anoperineal disease is wide. • Specific diagnosis of HS-related anoperineal disease is possible using MR imaging. • A combination of three MR signs allows distinction between HS and CD.
Sacrocolpopexy with mesh insertion is a commonly performed operation to treat pelvic organ prolapse. MDCT and MRI are used not only to evaluate for potential complications of the procedure but also to evaluate for functional disorders and recurrent prolapse.
• MR-enterography is accurate for the detection of mesenteric small-bowel tumours. • Diffusion-weighted sequencing helps inexperienced readers detect small-bowel tumours with MR-enterography. • Diffusion-weighted sequencing adds value to standard MR-enterography when gadolinium is contraindicated.
The authors give a description of the anatomy and topography of the tendinous arch of the pelvic fascia (TAPF), in order to facilitate its location during surgery. 35 TAPF in 25 female cadavers were dissected. The reproducibility of the landmarks was then verified at laparotomy. The TAPF can be easily identified and its resistance remains constant, even when the pelvic floor is hypotrophic. Its anterior extremity (d2) is at about 46 mm on a line perpendicular to the anterior edge of the pectineal ligament (35-55 mm), next to the pubovesical ligament. Its median part (dl) is perpendicular to the obturator foramen at a site located at an average of 30 mm below the obturator foramen (25-50 mm). Its posterior end is located at the ischial spine. These anterior landmarks, the only ones useful during surgery, allow its very easy location with the palmar surface of the finger. Testard and Delancey demonstrated the major role of the TAPF in stabilising the urethra submitted to strain. Richardson described a technique of paravaginal suspension for curing paravaginal fascial defect. The TAPF has never been well described, but his work allows its easy location during surgery. The suture of the vagina to the TAPF allows a more physiologic and stronger suspension of the bladder neck than other classical techniques.
The Kidney is vulnerable organ to the drug toxicity, due to the interstitial accumulation of toxic agents, expose the kidney to higher concentrations. The nephrotoxicity develops by a variable degree renal failure, it may be evolved quickly and spontaneously towards the terminal stage and unfortunately lately discovered. Following the studies of indesirable effects of an unwanted circumstance at the EHUO's pharmacovigilance service; we could show the involvement of many nephrotoxic substances as Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, during the aggravation of the chronic end stage of the renal failure. As a conclusion, and to reduce the incidence of the renal complications, it is essential to prevent the occurrence of the iatrogenic-based nephrotoxic effects, because that can be a real primary prevention, which is why the recommendations while using this drugs must be respected.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
