Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the influences of TQM implementation on employees’ productivity in crumb rubber industry (case study conducted in the XYZ firm), and analyze the predominant factors affecting employees’ productivity in order to establish the success of TQM implementation.
Design/methodology/approach
Data used in the research was primary data obtained from interview and questionnaire, and secondary data obtained from the study of literatures, internet, and company’s documents. The number of respondents in this research was 191. The analysis was done through structural equation modeling (SEM) using the smart partial least square software.
Findings
The findings of this study showed that TQM implementation had positive influences on employees’ productivity in XYZ. Tool is the most predominant factor in order to achieve a successful TQM implementation in XYZ. Therefore, the XYZ company will need to work on improving the development and management of the tool which has been available to sustain the effectiveness of TQM practices.
Research limitations/implications
Using a large sample size in the SEM method could improve the results. The implications of this study can be demonstrated through how top managers in this rubber company can improve their employees’ productivity through total quality management practices.
Practical implications
This research is useful for manufacturing companies in Indonesia, especially in the crumb rubber industry.
Originality/value
This research used the variable based on the empirical research. TQM was measured using six indicators: human resources, standard, tools, organization, internal audit, and training and education. On the other hand, the work productivity of employees is measured by four indicators: work willingness, work ability, work environment, and work relations.
All food businesses are required by law to implement and maintain food safety management systems based on the Codex Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) principles. However, more than half of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Indonesia are having difficulty complying with these regulations. This research designed a food system by identifying the application of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and the HACCP to Dairy Farm SMEs based on the survey, in-depth interviews, and document standard review. The food safety system was implemented using HACCP, and six Critical Control Point (CCP) processes were identified, including milking (raw material), storage, pasteurization, curd filtering, and cheese packaging. The halal assurance system is implemented at Dairy Farm SMEs by identifying and improving the company's business processes and the mozzarella cheese production process. In addition, a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) was developed, including a food safety system and a halal assurance system. It can be used as a reference in designing a food safety system by identifying and applying the principles of GMP and HACCP that pay attention to critical points in the mozzarella cheese production process. The results of the research can be used wisely by Dairy Farm SMEs to assist in obtaining recommendations from the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) and halal certification, specifically the existence of SOPs, forms for each production process, improvements to each production process, and improvements to company business processes.
Public facilities can be accessed by everyone, whether they have physical limitations or not.The Al-Hakim Mosque in Padang City is one of the facilities that is a place of worship for Muslims as well as a tourist attraction in West Sumatra. The research was conducted by identifying the inhibiting factors for persons with disabilities when using these facilities, designing these facilities to be easy to use by persons with disabilities (especially wheelchair users), and making a budget plan for making these facilities. Identification of inhibiting factors is done by making checklist to see the various obstacles experienced by wheelchair users and selecting anthropometric variables needed in designing public facilities. The results of this study are in the form of public facility designs that can be used by wheelchair users, the percentage of the suitability of these public facilities after the design is carried out, and the costs required to build these facilities
