Background: The Covid-19 is a viral infection caused by the novel coronavirus and interpersonal transmission occurs mainly via respiratory droplets and contact transmission. In some countries, the recommendations of the dental associations are to interrupt elective dental treatments, so only emergency or urgent cases are allowed. However, many patients are not aware of whether or not to attend their appointments at the dental clinic. Most of the patients are anxious but some patients feel calm to seek dental treatment. Purpose: This research is to find out the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on anxiety levels and patient’s visit in Dental and Oral Clinic, A.W. Sjahranie General Hospital Samarinda. Materials and Method: This research was designed by the descriptive observational approach using a cross-sectional research design. The samples were new patients of child and adult who visited Dental and Oral Clinic, A.W. Sjahranie General Hospital Samarinda. The research was conducted through questionnaires to measure anxiety levels about Covid-19 pandemic conditions and the average anxiety level of patients associated with "stay at home" recommendation and their impact on dental care success. Result: The questionnaires were answered by 55 patients (23 male/42% and 32 female/58%) who visited the Dental and Oral Clinic, A.W. Sjahranie General Hospital Samarinda. The average level of patient anxiety for Covid-19 pandemic conditions is 4.87 for male patients and 4.42 for female patients. The level of anxiety about the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on dental care is about the same in both men and women. Conclusion: Male patients are more anxious than women about the Covid-19 pandemic. But both showed similar anxiety about how pandemic conditions could affect their dental care.
Kata Kunci: Avulsi gigi, ligamen periodontal, replantasi gigi, trauma dentoalveolar ABSTRACT Dental avulsion is a common type of injury that causes teeth to detach from the alveolar socket. This type of dentoalveolar trauma results in severed periodontal ligaments with or without alveolar bone fracture. Although the ideal treatment is dental replantation immediately at the site of the trauma, this may not be practicable in every case. The community still does not know the first aid efforts in the management of dental avulsion before replanting to maintain the viability of the tissue around the loose tooth. This community service activity is carried out to increase community knowledge about how to clean and store teeth properly with the aim of increasing the success of treatment in the Covid-19 pandemic. The implementation of this activity to the community includes making educational animated videos and uploading them to the online video platform "Youtube". The responses obtained from the community were carried out through a questionnaire. Filling out the questionnaire by the community (48 people) showed that 42% were very satisfied; 48% satisfied; 6% were quite satisfied; 0% dissatisfied, and 4% are very dissatisfied with the educational video shown on the YouTube platform. The high level of community satisfaction is expected to be balanced with an increase in public knowledge and awareness about the emergency management of dental avulsion during the Covid-19 pandemic, which is presented from an educational animated video. Introduction:Acute leukemia is a primary malignancy in the bone marrow, in children constituting 35% of childhood cancers. Eighty percent are Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) and 20% are Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). In Indonesia, there are currently around 80,000 children under the age of 15 years. Mucositis, oral infections, taste dysfunction, xerostomia, and bleeding are recognized as common acute sequels with risks for severe pain, malnutrition, and potential source of systemic infections. The purpose of this article is to report the management of mucositis in a patient with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Case and Management: A 5 years old boy consulted from Pediatrician in Abdoel Wahab Sjahranie General Hospital to a Pediatric Dentist in the same hospital with the chief complaint of severe gingivitis, bleeding on gingival mucosa, ulcer, and mucositis on lips. Because the general conditions of the patient decreased, the supportive therapies were instructed to maintain oral hygiene by rinsing and cleaning intra-oral with sterile gauze with sterile or cold water and chlorhexidine gluconate 0,20% periodically, brushing teeth with soft bristles, applying oxygel, and soft diets with high in carbohydrate and protein. Conclusion: The risks of mucositis in children are higher compared with adults due to the uncooperative behavior of the patient and smaller oral cavities which limit the examination. Good oral hygiene protocols should be applied during and after chemo-radio therapy motivating the children and parents or caregivers to maintain an appropriate level of oral hygiene to minimize the risk of developing decay, local infections, hemorrhage, and oral mucositis.
Dental caries is the most common condition in the oral cavity, especially in poor oral hygiene. In Riskesdas data, it is stated that caries become the largest proportion of dental problems in Indonesia, around 45.3%. In East Kalimantan, especially in Paser Regency, 53.02% of the population has complaints of cavities. People often consider tooth extraction an option in case of tooth decay, especially caries. This is due to the influence of culture and people's belief that tooth extraction will solve the problem. Various studies state that tooth loss due to extraction is caused by caries and is associated with influences on a person's characteristics such as age, gender, and occupation. The study aims to determine the distribution of tooth extraction due to caries based on sociodemographic characteristics in poly dental patients of Tanah Grogot health center in 2017-2019. This research is a descriptive method using medical record data subjects based on predetermined inclusion criteria. The data are grouped based on sociodemographic characteristics (age, gender, occupation) and tooth regio removed. The data are grouped based on sociodemographic characteristics and tooth regio removed. The results are presented in the form of tables and narrations. Age 35-44 years as many as 44 patients (26.38%) and female gender of 97 patients (59.4%) is the category that is most performed tooth extraction due to caries. housewife, with a total of 58 patients (35.6%) the highest number of jobs in tooth extraction. Posterior teeth, especially the lower jaw, are the most frequently removed teeth in cases of dental caries, with a total of 91 cases (55.83%).
