Background: Promoting the level of knowledge of patients through education is one of the effective factors in increasing the patient responsibility in eliminating or changing unhealthy behaviors. Also, improving self-management of hemodialysis patients needs empowering the patients through educational program. Aim: to assess the effect of structured teaching program on knowledge and self-management behaviors for hemodialysis patients. Subjects and method: Design: A quasi-experimental (pre-post-test) design was used. Setting: The study was conducted in hemodialysis unit at Qena General Hospital. Subjects: A convenient sample consisted of 100 adult patients were selected based on the following inclusion criteria; their age between 18-65 years, and able to provide oral consent they were followed up for three months. Tools: Three tools were used for data collection; (I) patient's assessment sheet, (II) the hemodialysis knowledge questionnaire and (III) the hemodialysis self-management instrument. Results: Main results for this study showed that only 17% of studied patients had satisfactory level of knowledge in pretest, which increased to 93% in post-test. There was a statistically significant difference as regard hemodialysis self-management behaviors post implementing the structured teaching program P-value <0.001*. Recommendations:Continuous educational programs should be planned and offered to patients on regular basis in hemodialysis units. Also, further studies about home self-management of hemodialysis patients should be conducted.
Background: A number of malignant and nonmalignant medical problems, frequently in severely ill patients, demand for the advanced therapeutic technique known as a bone marrow transplant. To offer patients with high-quality care following bone marrow transplants, the nurses required knowledge and practice. Aim: This study aimed to determine the effect of social media-assisted inservices training instructional guidelines on nurses' performance regarding bone marrow transplant recipients. Research design: A quasi-experimental design was utilized to achieve the aim of this study. Setting: The study was conducted at an outpatient clinic Oncology Institute affiliated with Sohag City, Egypt. Subject: A convenient sample of (50) nurses were included. Tools: a structured interview Questionnaire tool that included four parts. Part I: Personal data, part II: Nurses' knowledge, and part III: Nurses' reported practices (pre and post). Results: This study found those nurses' reported practices, attitudes, and knowledge had all improved statistically respectively pre and post-social media-assisted in-services training instructional guidelines. Conclusion: The current study concluded that social media-assisted in-service training instructional guidelines regarding bone marrow transplant recipients have a positive effect on improving nurses' knowledge and reported practices. Recommendation: Provide continuous in-service training instructional guidelines regarding bone marrow transplant recipients to nurses in different healthcare settings.
Back ground: Street cleaners play important roles in environmental health by keeping roads clean; nonetheless, these workers confront several hazards. The majority of those dangers can be avoidable. Aim of the study: for evaluating the effect of Preventive health program regarding knowledge and practice of street cleaners about occupational health hazards at Sohag city.Research design: This study applied a quiz-experimental research design. Setting: The study was carried out in Sohag Local Council (East and West cities) at Sohag City. Sample: A convenience sample of 208 workers who worked at the previously mentioned setting. Tools: Two tools were used to collect study data ; Tool I: a structured questionnaire was used concerning sociodemographic data of studied, workers' knowledge regarding hazards at workplace and health hazards prevention. Tool II: An observational checklist was utilized to assess the street cleaners' safety precautions. Results: the majority of the street cleaners were poor knowledge and practice about occupational risk and prevention of health hazard prior implement of the program respectively. However, there was a significant improvement in knowledge and practice of the street cleaners after implementation of the program. Conclusion: This study concluded that preventive health program is effective for improving' knowledge and practice of street cleaners. Recommendations:The study recommended for further personal protective devices should be available for all street sweeper workers.
Nursing is an essential component in the functionality of the health system. Nurse's shortage is recognized as worldwide issue. So, understanding the problems that faces them and overcome these problems is crucial in retaining them. Aim: To identify the most important work environment problems (WEPs) of hospital nurses and its relation to their professional commitment. Setting: The study was carried out in ICUs, medical, special medical, surgical, and obstetrics and gynecological units in Qena General Hospital. Subjects: A convenience sample of 245 nurses who worked at the previously mentioned setting. Tools: Three tools were used for data collection; WEPs questionnaire, professional commitment scale and socio demographic characteristics of studied nurses. Results: Showed that the highest mean score in WEPs was related to lack of material and moral incentives (28.89 ± 7.41) while lowest was related to Poor physical environment and support services (11.36 ± 3.22).There were a statistically significance negative correlations between work environment problems and professional commitment of hospital nurses. Conclusion: WEPs of hospital nurses have a strong impact on their professional commitment. Recommendations: Improving the image of nursing in the media for the purpose of awareness and to clarify the role of nursing and its importance in the medical field.
