This papper investigated the appraisal system used in the verbal message advertisements visual beauty of each print media. Verbal message visual beauty of each print media were analyzed using appraisal theory which found on domain: attitude. Attitude as negotiating meaning to answer research problems. Judgement as the appraisal which dominate the verbal message advertisement visual beauty of the print media. This study is qualitative and interpretative in which the data analyzed using analysys of appraisal framework to identify categoriez of calusses the establish verbal message advertisement visual beauty of print media. The result showed thet category of clauses that building message advertisement visual beauty of print media dominated by appraisal tool that dominates moral judgement with direct, positive character as a praise and negative character as criticism.
The focus of this research was to widen the richness of emotive-cultural lexicon which is grow rapidly in the usage area of coastal Javanese, especially in Pati District. By the variant of emotive-cultural lexicon will be found the uniqueness form of politeness and the gradation of politeness in the speaker walks of life. The location of this research was concentrate in Pati District. The selection of respondent and informant by using purposive sampling. The research design was survey and case study. The data collection was done by structured interview, indepth interview, and focus group discussion. The data was analyze using the connection of emotive-cultural lexicon toward the form of politeness speech, so that the direct substance sorting became the main device in the analysis. The research findings are the power of emotive-cultural lexicon becomes the spirit of speech politeness form for Javanese coastal society in the region of Pati. This spirit also developes the gradation of politeness for the speaker. Lingually, this gradation is determined by the color/variant of emotive-cultural lexicon than the power of extralingual.
This study aims to describe the linguistic situation and the phonemic correspondence formula from Palembang and Riau language. The research method uses language grouping method with phonemic correspondence techniques. Palembang language and Riau language are languages derived from the same family, namely the Austronesian family. Language kinship is proven not only from the geographical location that is close together, but also evidenced in some gloss that has kinship in the field of phonemic correspondence. The phonemic correspondence formula can be seen between the Palembang language and the Riau language showing regular phonemic forms of correspondence in the form of vowels and consonants. The phonemic correspondence formulas in Palembang and the Riau languages obtained are: / r ~ ᴓ /, / a ~ o /, / ǝ ~ a /, / j ~ t /. Phonemic vocal and consensus correspondence occurs in open and closed peultima positions.
Humors function not only just entertain, but also has educated function viewer to think creative. This study aims to determine the pragmatic strategy in the creation of humor that aired on some Indonesian television. The research domain uses the assessment of the humorous theory of Asa Berger. The unit of analysis of this research are words, phrases, and sentences as verbal markers of speech humor. The results of research include misunderstanding techniques with idiom meaning of a word that raises a different meaning; The technique of deceiving by asking a question and a sentence indirectly outwits the other person, so the humorist looks smarter than his opponent; Mocking technique by directly criticizing the speaker because his speech sounds weird; And sound-playing techniques by replacing a phoneme in a word which then creates a different meaning.
This research is related to sociolinguistic studies. The problem that emphasizes is the shift of the Betawi dialect in the family domain, especially the Betawi descendants who live in Jakarta. This study aims to determine the form of shifting Betawi dialect. Provision of data was taken using questionnaires and random interviews specifically aimed at some Betawi communities in the family domain. Then the data describe phenomenologically by looking at the basic principles of speech components as a reference for analysis. From the research that has been done, the results obtained that the dialect shift that occurs in Betawi occurs in the generation of children and parents, this form of shift can be identified in the use of shifting Betawi vocabulary into other vocabulary. Other languages are dominated by Indonesian, which indirectly is the second language of the Betawi community. While the causes of shifting dialects in the Betawi community include the influence of language variations and the lack of loyalty of the local community.
