<p><em>International Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry found that more than 27% of elderly people experience difficulty in carrying out daily activities due to experiencing anxiety. This study aims to determine the relationship of anxiety levels with the level of independence Activities of Daily Living in the elderly. This type of research is analytic with cross sectional design, with a population of all elderly in the Work Area of Baloi Permai Public Health Center in Batam City in 2019 with a purposive sampling technique with a sample of 66 elderly people. The results obtained from 66 elderly people, elderly who did not experience anxiety independently numbered 39 elderly (59.1%), elderly who experienced mild anxiety with mild dependence totaling 20 elderly (30.3%), elderly who experienced mild anxiety with dependence moderate amounted to 1 elderly (1.5%), elderly who experienced moderate anxiety with moderate dependence amounted to 4 elderly (6.1%), elderly who experienced severe anxiety with heavy dependence amounted to 1 elderly (1.5%), elderly who experienced severe anxiety with a total dependence of 1 elderly (1.5%). Hypothesis test results using kruskall wallis obtained ρ value 0,000, indicating a significant relationship between the level of anxiety with the level of independence Activities of Daily Living in the elderly. Public health center can provide health education regarding the importance of checking the level of independence of the elderly and can carry out scheduled levels ofindependence during integrated healthcare center of the elderly to find out the fulfillment of daily activities in the elderly</em></p>
Diabetes is a serious chronic disease that occurs because the pancreas does not produce enough insulin. Quality of life is very important to get serious attention, because the quality of life is something that is closely related to a person's health condition, the severity of the disease, the duration of healing, and can even aggravate the condition of the disease to death if a person has a poor quality of life. This study aims to determine the relationship between family support and stress with the quality of life of the elderly with type II diabetes mellitus in the Sekupang Health Center, Batam City, 2020. Data collection usedthe questionnaire brought by the researcher to the population elderly people with Type II Diabetes Mellitusin Batam City in 2020. The inclusion criteria are elderly who are willing to be respondents, elderly who suffer from Diabetes Mellitus Type II, elderly who are ≥60 years old, elderly who can communicate well, and elderly who do not experience cognitive impairment. Research respondents involved in this study were 64 respondents. Chi-Square statistical test results obtained value (p value = 0.000 <0.05), indicating that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Conclusion: there is a significant relationship between family support and stress with the quality of life of the elderly with type II diabetes mellitus in the Sekupang Health Center, Batam City, 2020.

Methods: This article uses analytical research with cross sectional design of 65 elderly in the Sekupang Health Center Work Area. The implementation time for 7 days starts on 4-10 June 2020. Sampling using a purposive sampling technique. The measuring instrument in this study was a questionnaire HDFSS and PSS. Analysis of the data used is the Chi-Square Test. Results: The results shows that there is a relationship between family support and the incidence of stress in elderly people with type 2 diabetes mellitus in the work area of Sekupang Health Center (p value 0.002) α = 0.005). It is hoped that elderly families can provide good family support so as not to cause mild stress events in the elderly with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Conclusion: (a) Most of the elderly with type 2 diabetes mellitus did not receive family support with mild stress, amounting to 28 elderly (43.1%). (b) Most of the elderly with type 2 diabetes mellius experienced severe stress events with less supportive family support, amounting to 9 elderly (13.8%). (c) There is a significant relationship between family support and the incidence of stress in the elderly with type 2 diabetes mellitus in the work area of the Sekupang Health Center, Batam City in 2020, with the Chi-Square statistical test obtained a P-value of 0.002 <0.05.
Latar belakang: Diabetes Mellitus merupakan penyakit kronis serius yang terjadi karena pankreas tidak cukup memproduksi insulin. Oleh karena itu, penderita DM Tipe 2 sering mengalami masalah psikologis yaitu kecemasan yang membutuhkan dukungan keluarga. Bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara dukungan keluarga dengan tingkat kecemasan. Metode: penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian analitik dengan desain cross sectional. Non-probability sampling digunakan untuk menentukan sampel, yang melibatkan 66 responden. Alat ukur dalam penelitian ini adalah kuesioner Hensarling Diabetes Family Support Scale (HDFSS) dan Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (ZSAS). Dianalisis menggunakan uji statistik Chi-Square. Hasil: diperoleh nilai (p value = 0,003 < 0,05), menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan yang signifikan antara dukungan keluarga dengan tingkat kecemasan pasien diabetes tipe 2. Kesimpulan: Hasil penelitian ini adalah pasien diabetes melitus tipe 2 membutuhkan dukungan keluarga untuk mengatasi tingkat kecemasan
