Background: Diabetic nephropathy become the main cause of chronic renal diseases in the world, that have been demonstrated high mortality rate and disability in patients with diabetes mellitus. Many recent studies demonstrate the associations of CRP and development of renal impairment in type two diabetic patients demonstrating the relation between systemic inflammation and glycemic control and consequently with severity of diabetic complications. Aim of study: evaluate the role of CRP and to analyze any correlation of CRP with nephropathy complications of diabetes. Material: the study was a cross sectional study of 62 type tow diabetic patients attended to Kirkuk general Hospital and 28 healthy subjects. Patient group was separated into two groups first include those have diabetic nephropathy and the second group include patient s without nephropathy. CRP level in serum sample was evaluated and albumin-creatinine ratio in random urine samples were calculated. Results: the present study revealed that the CRP serum concentration was significantly high in patient with nephropathy than those without nephropathy (P< 0.01). Also, demonstrated that the urine albumin-creatinine ratio was significantly increased in patients with nephropathy as compared with those without nephropathy as well as there is a strong positive correlation between CRP and urine albumin-creatinine ratio. Conclusion: A positive correlation of CRP with albumin-creatinine ration indicating the role of CRP in development of DN and possibility of used CRP measurement to predicate the DN development in type two diabetic patients. also supports the treatment targeting inflammatory mediators in improving diabetic complication.
This study was carried out to evaluate the relationship between narghile smoking and serum concentration of serotonin and endorphin and some blood hematological indices in males. Group of smokers composed of 50 voluntary, and control group composed of 36 healthy voluntary. This study was conducted on adults man that ages between (18-25 years). The markers measured in this study were serum serotonin and endorphin and hematological indices (platelets, hematocrit, hemoglobin, and white blood cells).
This study showed a significant decrease (P<0.05) in levels of serum serotonin, endorphin and blood platelets, and a significant increase (P<0.05) in levels of in blood hematocrit and hemoglobin and a non-significant increase of white blood cells (P>0.05) in smokers as compared with healthy persons.
Background; SARS-CoV-2, the novel corona virus that originated in Wuhan, China in late December is a positive single stranded RNA virus. COVID-19, a disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 is characterized by symptoms such as fever, sore throat, dry cough, loss of sense of taste and smell etc. The symptoms may range from asymptomatic, mild, moderate, severe and critical. The virus enters through its spike protein (S) to the ACE2 receptors. The aim of the study is to evaluation of ferritin, D-dimer, CRP and IL-6 in patients who affected with COVID-19. Patients and methods; A cross-sectional conducted in many Hospitals in Baghdad. This study conducted between January to June 2022 on patients infected with the Corona virus. A total of sixty subjects were participated in the present study. Thirty patients of both sexes, with different ages and in the severity infection with the Corona virus, divided into two groups. Results; There were significant elevations in the concentration of serum ferritin and D dimer of COVID-19 patients, as compared with control healthy subjects. Also, there is significant elevation in the concentration of serum CRP of patients with COVID-19, as compare with control healthy subjects.
