Environmental issues often get global attention due to increasing environmental damages as seen in global warming, environmental degradation and ozone depletion. By encouraging proenvironmental or green behaviour at workplace, it can encourage the employees to be more responsible in reducing environmental problems. Thus, the issue of employee green behaviour (EGB) has been a topic of interest among scholars in management. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between employee environmental knowledge and environmental attitude towards employee green behaviour at workplace. The data comprised responses from 108 employees that indicated a moderate level of green practices at work. The study found that there is no relationship exists between environmental knowledge (EK) and environmental attitude (EA) on employee green behaviour (EGB). Future recommendations on the practical implication to help encourage employee to be engaged with green behaviour at work were later discussed.
Students' perceptions, expectations and satisfaction in higher education are vital to be measured in order to improve the quality of higher education institutions. The paper focuses on these three variables specifically as well as the characteristics of female lecturers in higher education. There are many studies that focused on the teaching quality among lecturers in higher education, but few have provided emphasis on female lecturers and their traits for improvement of higher education establishments. To better understand the characteristics of female lecturers, the study sampled 134 students in a Malaysian public university to gauge their level of perception, expectation and satisfaction. The study found that female lecturers have the best soft-skills which in turn, make the students feel comfortable and welcomed in higher education institutions. At the same time, the students expect female lecturers to be more knowledgeable despite the fact that most of them feel very satisfied with the knowledgeability portrayed by female lecturers.
This study examined how student at UiTM Bandaraya Melaka perceived green practices. Convenient sample of 200 respondents were surveyed. Students have positive perception towards green and findings show there is no significant difference on perception and there is significant difference in doing green activity. Result indicated that “recycle paper” is the most chosen activity done by respondents whereas “attending green conference” is the least activity respondent chose to get involve. The implications of this study are useful to student’s association; university and environmental organization as a guideline to organize green activities and to motivate students participate actively in green practices.
Malaysians generate 37500 tons per day and involving RM 2.0 billion a year for solid waste management (SWCorp Malaysia , 2017). Thus, environmental sustainability issues are one of the significant topics that should be concerned by the organizations. Encouraging pro-environmental or green behavior at workplace can result in an employee responsibility to reduce environmental problems. Therefore, there is a need to emphasize on the study of employee behavior toward sustainability. Hence, the aim of this is to propose the new framework of employee green behavior (EGB) for the organization based on organizational citizenship behavior for environment (OCBE). Implications of this study are useful for the employer as a guideline to encourage pro-environmental behavior at the workplace.
With the current global environmental problem, most organizations focus on environmental sustainability in their agenda. However, the strategy couldn't succeed without the employee's participation. The purpose of this paper is to explore the concept of employee green behavior and its theoretical implications. This paper is a conceptual paper that presents a new concept for environmentally sustainable organizations as a result of a literature study on management and psychology fields. The paper provides new insights and fruitful understanding and importance for the organization in fostering green behavior among employees at work.
