Kajian ini membincangkan aspek penggunaan sintaksis nahu Arab yang terdapat di dalam sistem nahu bahasa Arab dan bentuk kesilapan penggunaannya di dalam penulisan pelajar bahasa Arab di Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM). Responden kajian terdiri daripada lepasan sekolah dan ma’ahad agama seluruh negara. Umum mengetahui bahawa bahasa Arab tidak asing kepada para pelajar ini yang terdiri daripada kalangan pelajar pengajian agama dan mereka telah lama mengikuti pembelajaran bahasa ini secara formal bermula dari sekolah rendah hingga ke peringkat menengah sebelum memasuki pusat-pusat pengajian tinggi negara. Namun masih banyak kesilapan yang mereka lakukan sewaktu menggunakan bahasa ini khususnya ketika menerapkan aspek sistem sintaksis bahasa Arab yang betul dalam penulisan. Teori Analisis Kesilapan oleh S.P. Corder yang memperkenalkan empat dimensi klasifikasi kesilapan pelajar sewaktu mempelajari bahasa diterapkan ketika penulis menjalankan kajian ini. Data kajian dikumpulkan melalui ujian bertulis yang diadakan terhadap sekumpulan 25 pelajar yang baharu mendaftar di universiti ini. Dapatan kajian ini membuktikan wujud kecenderungan pelajar untuk melakukan kesilapan dalam aspek ortografi, leksikon, nahu dan struktur ayat. Namun kesilapan yang paling ketara dan banyak dilakukan oleh pelajar adalah dari aspek penggunaan nahu. Malah dapatan kajian juga menunjukkan pelajar berulang kali melakukan bentuk kesalahan yang sama dan kekerapan kesalahan ini menunjukkan bahawa pelajar menghadapi masalah kemampuan linguistik (linguistic competence) dalam bahasa sasaran yang sedang mereka pelajari. Hal ini sekaligus membabitkan implikasi pedagogi yang perlu melihat keadah pemulihan (remedial) yang berkesan bagi membantu pelajar mengatasi kelemahan tersebut. This study discusses the use of Arabic syntax in the Arabic language system and the types of errors found in the writings of students taking Arabic at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM). Participants of the study were students from religious schools and institutions nationwide. It is generally known that these students whose educational background include graduating from religious schools are accustomed to Arabic, and they have long practiced the formal Arabic language learning since elementary to high schools before entering higher institutions. However, the students still make errors when using the language especially when implementing the correct Arabic syntax in their writings. Therefore, to conduct this study, S.P Corder’s Theory of Error Analysis which introduces the classification of four dimensions of students’ errors in language learning was referred. The data were collected through a writing test from 25 students who had just enrolled into the university. The findings of this study showed that most of the students tend to make errors in various categories namely orthography, lexicon, grammar and sentence structure, and grammar is the most frequent errors made by the students. In fact, the findings also indicated that the students committed the same errors repeatedly which also implied that they have issues with their linguistic competence in learning Arabic. This also involves the pedagogical implications of effective remedial strategies to help students to overcome these weaknesses.
Bahasa Arab Tujuan Khas atau Arabic for Specific Purposes (ASP) merupakan cabang Disiplin Linguistik Fungsian yang fokus kepada bidang praktikal mengikut keperluan (needs), seperti: Bahasa Arab untuk Perbankan, Bahasa Arab untuk Diplomat, Bahasa Arab untuk Teknologi, Bahasa Arab untuk Ulum Islamiyyah dan lain-lain. Ulum Islamiyyah adalah disiplin ilmu yang bersumberkan alquran dan alhadith seumpama Syariah Islam, Usuluddin, pengajian al-Quran dan As Sunnah dan lain-lain. Bahasa Arab dan Ulum Islamiyyah adalah dua frasa nama yang mempunyai perkaitan yang jelas. Sarjana-sarjana Islam awal telah membahaskan dan menerangkan disiplin ulum Islamiyyah dalam buku turath dengan medium Bahasa Arab. Keperluan terhadap Bahasa Arab untuk Ulum Islamiyyah harus diberi perhatian agar objektif pembelajaran dapat dicapai dan dapat membantu pelajar untuk memahami kosa kata, istilah dan frasa nama yang khas di dalam disiplin yang dipelajari. Melalui tinjauan penyelidik didapati ramai pelajar menghadapi masalah pemahaman bahasa yang terdapat dalam manhaj penyampaian penulis asal dalam buku turath bagi setiap disiplin Ulum Islamiyyah. Masalah yang jelas dilihat apabila pelajar sukar untuk membaca dengan betul, memahami dan mengeluarkan hukum dari buku-buku turath tersebut. Pelajar juga tidak mampu untuk berdiskusi dan berhujah dalam disiplin Ulum Islamiyyah. Kajian campuran metodologi ini adalah kajian lapangan yang menggunakan instrumen temu ramah terhadap 10 pensyarah yang mengajar kursus Ulum Islamiyyah untuk mendapatkan data “keperluan” (Needs). Hasil kajian ini dapat dirumuskan bahawa Bahasa Arab untuk khusus Ulum Islamiyyah wajib ditawarkan kepada pelajar prasiswazah sebagai satu kursus di peringkat universiti. Arabic for Specific Purposes (ASP) is a branch of Functional Linguistic Disciplines focused on practical areas of language used, such as: Arabic for Banking, Arabic for Diplomats, Arabic for Technology, Arabic for Islamic Studies and so on. Ulum Islamiyyah is a discipline of knowledge that the Quran and al hadith are primary references for instance, Shariah studies, Usuluddin, Quranic and As Sunnah studies and others. Yet, Arabic Language and Ulum Islamiyyah are two terms which clearly related. Early Islamic scholars have discussed and explained the Islamic discipline in their turath books in Arabic. The needs of Arabic for Ulum Islamiyyah should be emphasized in order to achieve the learning objectives and to help students understand the specific vocabulary, terms and phrases in the subjects learnt. Through the survey done, the researcher found that many students faced the difficulties in reading, understanding and verify the Islamic rules from the original texts in the turath reference books. As consequences, the students are not able to discuss the Islamic issues in a broad view. This study used mixed methodology to get the data of needs by interviewing 10 lecturers who are teaching Ulum Islamiyyah courses. The results of this study can be concluded that the Arabic language for Ulum Islamiyyah must be offered to undergraduate students as a subject at the university.
Within the context of the Islamic religion, having Taqwa or the traits of righteousness is imperative because Taqwa reflects the level of a Muslim's faith. Hence, the purpose of the present study was to identify the traits of Takwa in surah Al-Baqara in the Holy Quran. The data for this study were obtained from verses in surah Al-Baqara. Purposive sampling was used to select the verses that contain the traits of Taqwa using an established tafseer (Quranic interpretation) in the Qurainic field as a guideline in marking the Taqwa traits in sampling the verses. Two experts in the field of Quranic tafseer validated the traits of Taqwa extracted from each selected verse. The data were analyzed using manifest and latent content analyses. The findings reveal 10 categories of traits of Taqwa which are tawheed or monotheism, do good to others, performing solah, paying of zakat, honouring rights, repentance, doing good deeds, righteous communication, being grateful, being sincere, and recognition of the absoluteness of Allah's sovereignty. Sequential emphasisbased analysis was used to tabulate the reiteration of each trait of Taqwa in order to find out the trait that is most frequently emphasized in the form of reiteration. Among the Taqwa category traits, the major emphasis is on tawheed or believing the oneness of Allah. The findings help in enhancing the understanding and the meta-framework of the traits of Taqwa, which is particularly useful for non-scholarly Muslims in strengthening their Islamic faith in accordance to what is commanded in the Holy Quran.
December 2019 marked the emergence of a deadly virus known as Covid-19. Since then, we have been battling the virus, which has infected more than 250 million people and killed 4.5 million globally. The pandemic has become the headline of almost every media outlet, local and international news agency. Hence, this article aims to examine the Arabic online news discourse of the event by focusing on the verbal processes strategically utilised in reporting the pandemic in Malaysia. This study's data consists of Modern Standard Arabic online news published by Aswaq (aswaqpress.com) news portal between January and July 2021. Aswaq provides Arabic news and information on Malaysia to the Arab world. Hence, the information provided by the portal is vital in portraying Malaysia to Arab audiences, particularly in framing the way Malaysia deals with the Covid-19. The study employs corpus linguistics analytical tools using corpus software AntConc 3.5.8 (2019). Then, the quantitative result will be analysed using a qualitative approach based on the textual-oriented Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) of Fairclough (1992). It is shown that Aswaq has strategically utilised various verbal processes to report on the word said and articulated around the pandemic. The diversity of verbal processes usage indicates different connotations that hint at different strategic approaches in reporting the news. Hence, it may lead to uncovering the outlet stance of the event. Finally, the study will present suggestions for other related studies in the future.
This paper discusses the requirements for designing Arabic language module for specific purposes (tourism). The emergence of the Arabic for specific language has manifested in the late period of this century, and it contains many issues that can be remedied through continuous study in this field, and the problems such as: the lack of experts in ASP and the lack of materials and references has been considered a major problem in this field, and no clear curriculum of ASP as well contributed on it. This study benefited from the problems and weakneses in this field to develop and design the curriculum of ASP (tourism). This research takes a scientific approach to develop the fundamentals on which it depends in the module design requirements by inductive and exploratory study in the design of English for specific purposes; because this language has preceded the Arabic in this field for more than 40 years. Accordingly, the research attempted to design Arabic for specific purposes module, dealt with the absolute and varible characteristics. The students' needs are importance in designing these module, taking into account originality in the specific language field. This research is a pioneer in the development of special Arabic curricula. يناقش هذا البحث عن متطلبات تصميم مناهج اللغة العربية لأغراض خاصة في مجال السياحة. علما بأن نشأة اللغة الخاصة قد تجلت في فترة متأخرة من هذا القرن، وفيها ثغرات عديدة يمكن علاجها من خلال الدراسة المستمرة في هذا المجال، وتصورت الاشكاليات فيها، مثل: قلة خبراء المجال الخاصة للمراجعة، وقلة المصادر والمراجع ذات قيمة علمية حقيقية ضابطة، ولم تكن هناك مناهج واضحة وغيرها. واستفادت هذه الدراسة من المآخد المبلورة في هذا المجال على بناء المنهج الخاص في مجال السياحة أنموذجا. يتخذ هذا البحث منهجا علميا إلى استحضار الأسس التي تعتمد عليها في تصميم المنهج ومتطلباتها الخاصة بواسطة دراسة استقرائية واستطلاعية في تصميم مناهج اللغة الإنجليزية لأغراض خاصة؛ لأن هذه اللغة قد سبقت على اللغة العربية في هذا المجال أكثر من أربعين (40) سنة. بناء على ذلك، حاول البحث تصميم العربية لأغراض خاصة مع مراعاة الخصائص المؤكدة والخصائص المحتملة فيها. ولا ننفي أن رغبة الدارسين وحاجاتهم لها أهمية كبرى في تصميم هذه المناهج مراعيا الأصالة في المجال الخاص. ويكون هذا البحث رائدا في تطوير مناهج اللغة العربية الخاصة.
