The Education Development Plan of Malaysia (Higher Education) carry the nation's aspiration to empower the technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Malaysia. The emphasis on the development of high quality TVET graduates demands teachers and instructors of TVET who are highly knowledgeable and skilled. Thus, the emphasis on the quality of TVET teachers' education training of Faculty of Technical and Vocational Education (FTVE), Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI) has become an interesting issue that needs exploration. To evaluate the effectiveness of the education graduates, a quantitative survey research design using the Stuffelbeam evaluation model was carried out. The samples were FTVE graduates that have been placed in secondary schools and vocational colleges all over Malaysia. A total of 111 respondents have answered the questionnaire. The research findings showed that the level of professional knowledge, skills and practice were high. However, parallel to the concept of continuous improvement, the elements that are at the level of moderate will be evaluated for improvement. These research findings were expected to give some information to policy maker in TVET Teachers Training Provider to increase the quality of TVET graduates in UPSI specifically and Malaysia in general in order to uphold the aspiration to become a developed nation by 2020.
Entrepreneurship education has traditionally focused on formal education, but many initiatives have been taken parallel with the 21 st century teaching and learning strategies to engage student experience through learning by doing. The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of entrepreneurship education on students' entrepreneurship interest, intentions and competencies by implementing fashion entrepreneurship program. This study was held at Universiti Putra Malaysia for a period of five months. Samples were selected among undergraduate students who enrolled in Entrepreneurship Courses in First Semester 2016/2017. Screening process comprises interviews and basic sewing test were conducted to select 40 students as the respondents of the program. This program emphasized mentor-mentees system which involved 10 fashion entrepreneurs from the community. Respondents were exposed to entrepreneurship seminars, business and skills trainings, e-marketing workshops, sewing classes as well as evaluation sessions. Qualitative data were gathered through questionnaires adapted from Mc Clellandand Mc Ber & Co (1985) as well as questionnaires by Hisyamudin Hassan (2007). Meanwhile qualitative data were collected through continuous observations and the output of the fashion products. The findings indicated that there is a significant positive correlation between entrepreneurship interests with entrepreneurship intentions. Although the findings showed no significant relationship between fashion entrepreneurship program with entrepreneurship intentions and competencies, respondents' perceptions towards their interest, intentions and competencies at the end of the program are high. Due to time constraints, it was suggested that future entrepreneurship program should be scheduled more structured and in a timely manner to ensure that student can gain benefit throughout the program and the objective of the program can be achieved.
This study discusses the analysis results of the requirements carried out as a first step in constructing an interactive multimedia module for learning and facilitating (LFc) the topic of making clothes. Respondents consist of 13 Home Science teachers and 166 form five students from different secondary schools in the northern zone of Sarawak. The purpose of this analysis is to identify the normative requirements of the topics contained in Home Science Standards of Content and ascertain the perception and student-sense needs. This requirement analysis of students is also done from the perspective of teachers as individuals who are directly involved in the learning and facilitation of Home Science. The results show that the topic of making clothes is considered as a very difficult subject by the teachers and students. The results of the comprehension test on the topic of making clothes also show the students' low level of achievement. Although the teachers use multimedia software to teach the topic of making clothes, it is found that the software used to teach the topic is incomplete and does not conform to the Home Science Standards of Content.
This study aims to identify the readiness, acceptance and operation of Design and Technology teachers on Practice in School-Based Assessment (PBS). PBS is a holistic assessment that assesses cognitive (intellectual), affective (emotional and spiritual) aspects and psychomotor (physical) in line with the National Education Standard and Primary School Curriculum (KSSR) Philosophy. This study aims to examine the implementation of PS practices on Design and Technology teachers in national schools in the southern states of Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor. Elements to be studied are the level of teacher practice in the implementation of PS. The sampling type used was a simple random sampling where the sample of the study was 275 teachers consisting of teachers who taught Year 4, 5 and 6 of the 275 selected schools. The research instrument used was a questionnaire distributed to respondents. A total of 12 questionnaire items have been developed and have gone through the validity and reliability process. Teachers practice before, during and after the assessment is good at min 3.9673, 4.0029 and 4.0218 respectively. Data collected were analyzed using Statistical Packages For Social Science (SPSS) software. Overall, the findings show that the practice of teachers in implementing the School Assessment is at a good level with the overall mean of 4.0048 and the standard deviation of .57239. Hopefully, the results of this study will help to better teachers in implementing the School Assessment.
