Purpose
The digitization efforts for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as a result of advances in information technology are challenging, with one of them being the creation of digital ecosystems for SMEs. This study aims to develop a model of the relationship between SMEs’ readiness to change, agile leadership and dynamic capability to implement a digital ecosystem for SMEs in the creative industry in Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia.
Design/methodology/approach
A survey methodology was used in this study. Respondents in this study were creative industry SMEs in Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia. SMEs in the creative industry sector were chosen as samples as they require digital technology to manage their business development, production and distribution, customer relationships and to innovate in their businesses. In total, 250 creative SMEs, selected based on a purposive random sampling method, were included in this study. Data were analyzed using structural equation model-partial least square.
Findings
This study provides current insights and future needs for implementing digital ecosystems in SMEs in Indonesia’s creative industries. It also identifies three critical conditions for dealing with Industry 4.0: organizational readiness to change, agile leadership and dynamic capability.
Originality/value
In response to information technology advancements, this study proposes a new model for implementing digital ecosystems for SMEs. Furthermore, this study adds knowledge about the concept of a service-oriented technology ecosystem to help SMEs operate more efficiently. It focuses on the interaction of entities to improve the system’s utility, gain benefits and promote information exchange.
<p>Perkembangan Usaha Mikro Kecil dan Menengah (UMKM) menjadi stagnan di masa pandemi Covid-19. Banyak sekali UMKM mengalami penurunan penjualan dan tidak bisa berkembang bahkan hampir mengalami kebangkrutan. Kondisi tersebut membuat para pelaku UMKM harus berfikir untuk bisa tetap bertahan demi kelangsungan usahanya. Di masa pandemi Covid-19 banyak konsumen mengurangi interaksi di luar rumah dengan menjaga jarak guna memutus rantai penyebaran virus Covid-19. Pelaku UMKM dapat melanjutkan usahanya dengan tetap memenuhi kebutuhan konsumen di masa pandemi dengan mengalihkan pembelian secara online. Beralihnya pembelian secara offline menjadi online (digital), akan mempermudah pelaku UMKM dalam memperluas akses pemasaran. Peran teknologi digital memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap UMKM. Paradigma teknologi yang muncul memanfaatkan potensi UMKM yang lebih kuat serta berkelanjutan. Social media dan E-commerce dapat menjadi wadah penjualan pelaku UMKM. Diketahui bahwa pelaku UMKM belum mengikuti perkembangan digital secara maksimal, terutama karena kurangnya pengetahuan tentang digital marketing. Tujuan program pemberdayaan masyarakat pada UMKM di Kelurahan Plamongansari yaitu untuk memberikan pendampingan pelatihan digital marketing sebagai upaya pengembangan dan perluasan jaringan pemasaran berbasis teknologi (digital). Setelah melakukan pengabdian ini, diharapkan pelaku UMKM di Kelurahan Plamongansari akan terus bersinergi demi keberlangsungan UMKM dan pengembangan ekonomi masyarakat.</p>
This study discusses a new concept of "gamified training" through creative-oriented leadership. This concept aims to improve individual soft skills, such as communication skills, creative intelligence and collaboration skills.Gamified training is a design of training through gamification so that it will produce an effective and targeted training. Gamification is a training policy using game pattern. The sampling technique used purposive sampling method. The 106 respondents were involved in this study. Data collection technique used questionnaires and analyzed by regression method. The results showed that there was significant positive effect between creativeoriented leadership with gamified training. Furthermore, gamified training has also been proven to improve the individual soft skills.
