Purpose: The objectives of implementing community service include providing insight to teachers about best practice writing and providing best practice writing training. Method: The method used is field observation. The target in community service is junior-high school educators in Waru Sidoarjo district. These activities are carried out in the form of training activities, teaching, discussions, and research writing practices. Results: The training that has been carried out on middle-high school educators, namely (a) educators respond well to training in the PPM program, (b) educators have the motivation to improve in making scientific papers, (c) variety of scientific language is a common material in Indonesian language lessons so that educators are active in participating in training, (d) the teachers have a fairly good understanding in writing scientific papers, and (e) the educators respond well to aspects of the implementation of activities, aspects of the presenters, and aspects as a whole. Then, the final results show that from 44 participants, quantitatively that 30 participants have finished writing a best practice writing report, and only 14 participants still needed improvement. Conclusions: Through community service, teachers are able to make research through best practice. Although, there are some teachers who need revision related to the research content.
In instructional interactions, a lecturer should be able to build harmony in a conducive classroom atmosphere in order that a learning objective can be attained. This study aims to describe recounting as the realization of Brown and Levinson's positive politeness strategies in instructional interactions in the classroom. The subjects of this study were six lecturers from the Satya Wacana Christian University Salatiga. The research data were in the form of lecturer utterances when lecturing. The data were collected using the participant observation, records methods and fieldnotes, in addition, interviews were held with the lecturers being investigated. The data analysis was performed using descriptive techniques following the Miles and Huberman flow model. Based on the results of data analysis, it revealed that the recounts employed included ones about lecturers, students, lecturers' experiences, and public figures/attitudes of public figures. These findings can be used to strengthen and revise the positive politeness sub-strategies of Brown and Levinson (1987). In addition to functioning to forge a close relationship with interactants, the recounting strategy also serves to instill character values and to motivate. students to be more disciplined, and to optimize their own potential of becoming creative students. The use of recount as a positive politeness substrategy has contributed to efforts to create humanistic-based learning.
ABSTRAK. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk menggambarkan strategi kesopanan Brown dan Levinson dalam talkshow tanya jawab dan menjelaskan relevansi strategi kesopanan-bahasa terhadap pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia di tingkat Sekolah Menengah. Teori yang digunakan untuk menyelesaikan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah teori Brown dan Levinson. Sedangkan pendekatan yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data yaitu teknik dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa bentuk-bentuk strategi kesopanan Brown dan Levinson yang terjadi dalam talkshow tanya jawab pada bulan Agustus 2018 terdiri dari strategi kesopanan pertama Brown dan Levinson, yaitu tanpa strategi yang ditemukan yang mencakup pidato tanpa strategi. Strategi kedua kesopanan coklat dan strategi kesopanan positif Levinson ditemukan untuk memperhatikan pidato lawan, membesar-besarkan perhatian, persetujuan, dan simpati, mengintensifkan perhatian lawan dengan mendramatisasi fakta, mengintensifkan menggunakan penanda identitas kelompok, meminta persetujuan dengan topik umum atau mengulangi sebagian atau semua, menghindari perselisihan dengan berpura-pura setuju, menggunakan lelucon, mengekspresikan pemahaman tentang keinginan pembicara, memberikan penawaran atau janji, menunjukkan optimisme, melibatkan pembicara dalam kegiatan, memberikan pertanyaan meminta persetujuan, memberikan hadiah. Di mana strategi kesopanan negatif ditemukan menjadi pesimistis, meminimalkan paksaan, dan meminta maaf. Akhirnya, strategi Off Record ditemukan yang dimasukkan dalam strategi. Relevansi hasil penelitian dapat diterapkan dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di SMP kelas IX 3.9-4.10.
This research is a research follow class by using the secound cycle that there is the first cycle and cycle II. On the cycle I and cycle II each cycle there four stage of the (1) planning, (2) implementation of action, (3) observations, and (4) reflection. Each cycle has two meetings in one week, namely the first meeting and the second meeting with the allocation 2 x 40 minutes of each meeting. Subject in research is learners class VIII G SMPN 24 Surabaya totaling 37 learners contained 16 learners men and 21 learners woman. This school is located in Jl. Kebraon Indah Permai Blok K/23 A Surabaya. Data collection techniques to use the observation and test, data analysis technique using the percentage of. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that using pictorial writing media on the meme on Instagram can improve the writing skills of class students VIII G SMPN 24 Surabaya. This can be seen from (1) population activity in the cycle I 84,61% on the cycle II 100%, (2) activity learners in cycle I 83,44% on the cycle II 90,20%, (3) the test results writing skills poerty in cycle I 56,73% one the cycle of II increased 83,70%.
