Inquiry-based science issues approach facilitates the development of scientific skills through research activities on surrounding science issues. The purpose of this research was to understand the influence of Inquiry-based science issues on practical skills of Junior High School students. This research employed quasi-experimental research method, equipped with pre-test, post-test non-equivalent control group design. The sample of sixty junior high school students in Yogyakarta was picked for this study. The instruments used were observation sheets on practical skills, practical skills test, and instructional learning sheets. The data collected were analyzed using N-Gain, percentage, and Analysis of Covariate (ANCOVA) at 0.05 significance level. The result revealed that Inquiry Science Issues was more effective in fostering students’ practical skills than the scientific approach. There was a significant effect of treatment on students’ practical skills while no interaction between approach and prior knowledge of students. Moreover, the data of practical skills through the observation sheets in the experimental class had higher percentage compared to the control class, 80.36%, and 70.61% respectively.
This mixed methods study is one of the first to evaluate the effects of the incorporation of dramatic inquiry, dance, visual arts and physical education into preK-3 science, technology, engineering and mathematics units on student conceptual understanding of technology and engineering. The study used data collected from over 200 student surveys and focus group interviews with 14 teachers. The use of integrated STEAM units supported significant improvement in 4 to 8 year old students' understanding of engineering and technology. We report an average 55% increase in student understanding of what engineers do, and a 36% increase in their understanding of technology. The effect sizes for both assessments showed mostly large effects for all grade levels. The pre test scores across all grade levels were not significantly different. By implementing these integrated units with our younger students, we aimed to nurture their interest and understanding of engineering and technology across grade levels. This study results imply that students may not learn about these important topics outside of school hours; thus, it is important they become acquainted with these topics during school hours. Our work suggests that engineering units with dramatic inquiry should be introduced beginning in kindergarten.

Abstrak. Five Strategies of Entrepreuneurship Learning untuk Menghasilkan Real Entrepeuneur (Model Pendidikan Entrepreuneurship di Perguruan Tinggi). Tujuan penelitian ini menghasilkan suatu model pembelajaran yang dapat mengembangkan kemampuan entrepreuneur secara nyata pada mahasiswa melalui implementasi lima Strategies of Entreprueneurship Learing dalam kuliah kewirausahaan melalui pembentukan mid-set, attitude, skills, dan knowledge. Metode penelitian menggunakan Research and Development lewat lima Fase Perancangan Pengajaran Model Spiral diadaptasi dari ‘Five phases of instructional design’ dari Cennamo dan Kalk. Pengembangan dimulai dari fase definisi, desain, peragaan, pengembangan, dan penyajian yang pihak-pihak calon pengguna, ahli bidang yang dikembangkan, anggota tim dan instruktur, dan pembelajar. Hasil penelitian berupa model pembelajaran kewirausahaan yang terdiri atas lima strategi pembelajaran yang dilaksanakan secara terpadu, yaitu creative critical constructive imagination, entrepreneurial real life experience, educative disequilibrium conditioning, coaching and mentoring with collaboration and competition, dan community and market impact and involvement. Ujicoba terbatas menunjukkan adanya peningkatan proses dan hasil belajar dari aspek kognitif, afektif, dan keterampilan berwirausaha. Model hipotetik yang digunakan menunjukkan indikasi tercapainya hasil yang sesuai dengan rancangan awal, yaitu wirausaha baru berbasis ilmu pengetahuan. Kegiatan ini bertujuan meningkatkan kemampuan guru sekolah dasar dalam mengembangkan pembelajaran berbasis HOTS. Kegiatan dilakukan dalam bentuk lokakarya secara daring dengan dua bagian kegiatan, teori dan praktik. Materi yang disampaikan adalah pemahaman tentang pentingnya mengembangkan HOTS bagi peserta didik untuk peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran di sekolah dasar, strategi penyusunan pembelajaran berorientasi HOTS, metode-metode pembelajaran berbasis HOTS, dan penilaian pembelajaran berbasis HOTS. Kegiatan praktik dilakukan dengan menyusun pembelajaran berorientasi HOTS berdasarkan baseline kemampuan peserta didik untuk masing-masing sekolah dasar. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar peserta telah memiliki kemampuan mengembangkan pembelajaran yang berbasis HOTS. Berdasarkan temuan dari produk peserta, salah satu keterampilan yang perlu ditingkatkan adalah keterampilan mengembangkan pertanyaan produktif.
