Mobile phone emerges as a great tool to enhance the system of transfer of information in agriculture, but its use is limited in certain areas. So, an effort in this paper has been made to enumerate the uses of mobile phones in Social System which is based on Axinn & Thorat's model of rural social system. As in Production, farmers get timely information of weather forecasts, crop advisory. In Marketing and Supply, day to day information of commodity prices, market and other relevant information are available. Mobile learning can educate farmers. In governance, it emerges with a new concept of m-governance. And feedbacks through it can revolute research system. Primary data was also collected to know the opinion and preferences of farmers towards the use of mobile phones in agriculture. Data shows that farmers preferred information on marketing most, as it attained first rank. According to farmers, State Agriculture Universities are the most credible source of information while private agencies are least. Majority of farmers preferred 2-3 messages per day for fulfilling their information needs. They preferred SMS is the best way of providing information as they can read and save it for its future use. And finally, production is the most used area of Rural Social System among the farmers by mobile phones.
SUMMARY :In research study conducted on mango growers in Kokan region of Maharashtra state with the major objectives of measuring the socio-economic characteristics and knowledge level of mango growers on plant protection measures. It was observed that the more than half (52.50 %) of the respondents were in middle age group, having (65.00 %) secondary to higher secondary level of education and medium size of land holding (61.66 %). More than half of the (57.50 %) of the respondents possessed 2 to 10.9 ha. of land under mango cultivation, medium size of family (54.16 %), having low to medium level of income (79.16 %) and medium level of experience in mango cultivation (77.50 %). Nearly three fourth (70.00 %) of the respondents had medium social participation, majority of respondents i.e. 71.66 per cent had medium level of mass media exposure, nearly two third (67.50 %) of the respondents had medium level risk orientation, majority of them had (84.16 %) good level of change proneness and majority of respondent had medium level of achievement motivation and economic motivation (64.16 % and 37.50 %), respectively. The study isolates the impact of DSR technology on farm household well-beings in the state of Punjab using PSM technique on data pertaining to 2017-18. The results conclude that adopters of DSR technology have reduced their labor cost, and irrigation cost significantly, besides a marginal improvement in yield of paddy. The cost cutting on inputs and a slight improvement in yield due to this technology yielded a higher net income of about Rs. 8100/ ha compared to non adopters.
