The ability of mathematical communication is very important for prospective students of mathematics teachers, in order to be able to communicate their mathematical ideas both orally and in writing to others clearly, precisely and effectively. Therefore, prospective students of mathematics teachers need to be equipped with mathematical communication skills when taking the lecture through a student-centered lecture model and utilizing the ever-evolving information technology and communication, so this research aims to improve student’s mathematical communication skills through Jigsaw learning model assisted by media presentation powerpoint accompanied visual basic applications. This research is a kind of quasi experimental research conducted on a second-year student of Mathematics Education Study Program of University of Timor in 2015/2016 academic year. Data collection techniques that is used are test of mathematical communication skills. While the data analysis technique that is used is the one sample t test, two sample t test, and effect size test. The results showed that student’s mathematical communication skills taught by Jigsaw learning model with powerpoint presentation media along with visual basic applications better than the student’s mathematical communication skills taught by conventional learning model with the size of the effect size in the big category that is 0.92.
:This study aims to develop learning media for calculus based on the local wisdom of Timor Island with the implementation of Scilab. In addition, the research conducted simulations and compared the conventional methods and Scilab programming language to solve calculus problems. It is crucial to provide knowledge and insight to students to perform various types of simulations related to mathematics using Scilab or other open-source-based programming languages, besides the students become accustomed to solving mathematical problems with the help of programming languages. Twenty-three students of the Department of Mathematics Education in the University of Timor participated in this study to define, design, and develop a learning media in the form of handouts and powerpoints. The subject experts assessed the developed media as "excellent" in the aspect of content and language and "good" for the presentation. Meanwhile, the media experts gave an "excellent" rating for each aspect. Then after the media was tested on students, the media got “excellent” rating for each aspect.
The method that can be used to maintain security of secret in the form of cryptographic keys is by using secret sharing scheme (SSS). This method is first proposed by Adi Shamir in 1979, where the proposed scheme is a (k, n) threshold scheme. Shamir scheme is a perfect scheme under the assumption that all shareholders present their original share. However, if there are dishonest shareholders who present faked shares then the honest shareholders get nothing but a faked secret. Secret sharing scheme based on linear scheme is a scheme that can detect and identify cheaters who submit faked shares at the secret reconstruction. Detectability of this scheme when and identifiability when under the assumption that all shareholders present their shares randomly. After conducting a security analysis of the proposed scheme, it is obtained that to succeed in attack with cheaters who work together to fool honest shareholders then a new polynomial g(x) such that g(1) = , g(2) = , …, g(k - 1) = and a new detector that has the same value as detector d are needed.
The existence of student errors is due to the inability of the students to receive and process the information contained in the given questions. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct an analysis to find out student errors so that the results obtained in the analysis can be used by teachers to provide appropriate assistance to students, either through methods or media in learning mathematics. This study is a qualitative descriptive study. The purpose of this study was to find out how many errors were made by the eighth-grade class of Nurul Falah MTs in solving math problems according to Newman's theory in school year 2021/2022. So that solutions to reduce errors can be found and also to emphasize which parts require a deeper understanding in solving math problems. The results of the analysis showed that the percentage of student errors in the Reading Error (RE) phase was 13.33%, Reading Comprehension (RC) phase was 42.22%, Transformation Error (TE) phase was 28.89%, Process Skill (PS) phase was 71.11%, and the Encoding Error (EE) phase was 86.67%. From the results of the analysis, it can be seen that the most errors made by students are Encoding Error, which are 86.67%.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
