The area of the metabolic component of the microcirculatory bed decreases in the adrenal cortex of albino rats intoxicated with 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (a herbicide), as revealed by quantitative histochemical analysis. This decrease is paralleled by a decrease in the production of adrenal steroids.
