The problem of the prestige of higher education in the situation after the coronavirus pandemic is considered. The socio-economic, socio-political, socio-cultural and socio-psychological factors affecting the social attractiveness and significance of higher education are analyzed. The data of various sociological studies devoted to the problems of higher education in modern Russia are summarized. The conclusion is made about the decline in the prestige of higher education for the modern young generation.
