Efficient Hogel-Based Hologram Synthesis Method for Holographic Stereogram Printing

Abstract: With the development of the holographic printer, printing synthetic hologram requires smaller holographic element (hogel) size to improve spatial resolution of the reconstruction. On the contrary, a larger hogel size affords higher angular resolution, but it leads to a lower lateral resolution and there exists a trade-off problem. In this paper, a hologram synthesis method based on three-dimensional (3D) rendering of computer-generated holographic stereogram (HS) is proposed to limit the spatial-angular trade-… Show more

“…It can be categorized into a few types such as HS printing, holographic fringe printing, and wavefront printing. Also, there are several researchers have proposed valuable research for holographic stereogram (HS) printing [3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10]. In addition, a digital holographic printing that records a color image hologram with a full parallax of 120° is presented [11].…”

“…It can be divided into three types such as holographic stereogram (HS) printing, holographic fringe printing, and wavefront printing [3][4][5]. Some researchers proposed HS printing based on the elemental hologram (hogel) which is generated from the rendered perspectives images [6,7]. Also, an efficient hogel-based HS synthesis approach is proposed for HS printing by decreasing spatial-angular trade-off [7].…”

“…Among the many CGH techniques, the holographic stereogram (HS) is an excellent approach for the processing of occlusion culling, gloss reproduction and surface shading, which are important for realistic 3D display. Furthermore, the HS printing technique enables large-scale holographic 3D display [4,5].…”
