The infancy of research on junior high school students and English teachers in the border areas concerning the implementation of smartphones in English learning triggered the researchers to conduct a study to deal with the phenomenon. Hence, a recent study was undertaken to acquire the following goals. 1) to identify the level of smartphone utilization as a medium of learning English at SMP Satap Sono and SMPN Napan. 2) to know the perception of the students and English teachers of SMP Satap Sono and SMPN Napan towards using smartphones as a medium for learning English. This study embraced 60 participants comprising 30 students from SMPN Napan and 30 from SMPN Sono, as well as 3 English teachers from the two schools. The research design applied was qualitative descriptive. To procure data, the researchers applied three instruments: questionnaires, interviews, and class observation. The researchers observed the learning process in which English teachers and students incorporated smartphones, distributed questionnaires to the students and the English teachers, and interviewed the students and the English teachers concerning the implementation of smartphones as a medium in English learning. Further, the data were scrutinized by a descriptive method. Research results signified that the level of using the smartphone in learning English for the students and English teachers in SMP Satap Sono and SMPN Napan was categorized as low. On the contrary, the English teachers and the students had positive perceptions of the application of smartphones to support English learning. Then, the current study could inform the English teachers at the two schools on how their students perceive the integration of smartphones. Henceforth, it is expected that the subsequent researchers could explore a variety of English learning applications to be applied by the students and teachers at the border area.

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi karena belum tersedianya bahan ajar berbasis android pada mata pelajaran matematika khususnya untuk materi perbandingan berbalik nilai. Oleh karena itu dilakukan penelitian pengembangan bahan ajar berbasis android yang bertujuan untuk menghasilkan bahan ajar materi perbandingan berbalik nilai berbasis android yang valid dan praktis. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan menggunakan model pengembangan ADDIE . Data penelitian ini diperoleh melalui hasil walktrough, lembar angket, dan observasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa validasi bahan ajar perbandingan berbalik nilai berbasis android yang dilihat dari aspek isi, konstruk, dan bahasa yang dinilai dari hasil validasi ahli materi dan ahli media serta komentar siswa pada saat uji coba perorangan. Sedangkan kepraktisan bahan ajar perbandingan berbalik nilai berbasis android terlihat dari hasil lembar penilaian angket dan observasi pada tahap uji coba kelompok kecil. Dari hasil penilaian angket dan observasi diperoleh perhitungan nilai sebesar 82,17 % berkategori praktis dan 89,17% berkategori sangat praktis. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahan ajar perbandingan berbalik nilai berbasis android telah valid dan praktis.

The use of uncontrolled games in adolescents can affect the learning process in school, especially the interest or desire to learn teenagers become reduced or can even disappear, this can certainly interfere with the child's education in the future. The decrease in students' desire to learn seriously can be influenced by the motivation of the student itself, namely the motivation of the student. The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship of playing online games with learning motivation in the youth of SMPN 41 Bulukumba students. This study uses an analytical observational research design with a "cross-sectional" approach. The sample of this study as many as 47 respondents were taken by purposive sampling method. Analysis of the data in this study using statistical tests Kolmogorov Smirnov. The results of the analysis used a statistical test Kolmogorov Smirnov with a confidence level (α=0.05). Based on the results of this test, the p-value was 0.019, thus p < α (0.019 < 0.05), then Ho was rejected and Ha received with a correlation value of r = - 0.420. The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between playing online games and learning motivation in adolescent students of SMPN 41 Bulukumba who are not in the direction of moderate correlation strength with a value of r = -0.420. Researchers suggest that the results of this study can be used as learning for students in order to divide time well between playing games with learning. In addition, further researchers also expected additional variables that may also affect many things in this study and also the addition of the number of research samples.
