“…A few of the metabolites found in our study, such as 2-heptanone, heptanol, and 3-methyl-4-ethylpentanol, have been previously identified in the volatiles of ripe and overripe berries of C. arabica [18]. Similarly, metabolites such as methyl salicylate, α-copaene and δ-cadinene have been identified in volatiles released by the healthy ripe berries of C. canephora [20].…”

“…Dodecyloxybenzoic acid, 2,6,11,15-tetramethyl hexadecane, and longifolene merely existed in AF infested rice, and tetratetracontane and 3-octanone were only observed in ACL infested rice. Besides, longifolene was detected both in ACL and AF inoculated samples, and tridecane was discovered in all three mold-infected samples, demonstrating that tridecane, longifolene, and 3octanone might be present in small amounts in some fungi (Roman-Ruiz et al, 2012). On the third day of storage, the contents of decanal and 1-octanol in all fungal-infected rice samples decreased arrestingly to 30.42 μg g −1 FW, nevertheless the contents of nonanal and diethyl phthalate went up to 13.70-17.53 μg g −1 FW and 12.96-19.68 μg g −1 FW, respectively, which indicated that both of them may be likely to contribute to the odor characteristics of the samples.…”

“…Hexadecane and heptadecane were identified from the pupae of Hypothenemus hampei (Ferrari) . Additionally, the parasitoid Prorops nasuta was more attracted to hexadecane than to heptadecane.…”
