“…Aunque las puntuaciones de la escala MMSE al ingreso fueron en general bajas, y es conocido que la afectación cognitiva es común en personas con trastornos depresivos 1 , no siempre se trató de un deterioro cognitivo instaurado. Hay que tener en cuenta dos cuestiones: una, que muchos pacientes (sobre todo mujeres) tienen una escolaridad muy baja, siendo algunas de ellas casi analfabetas 6 (aunque no sea un impedimento para su recuperación 8 ) y, dos, que algunos pacientes psiquiátricos presentan autoestigma 34 como parte de su sintomatología depresiva: expresan quejas subjetivas de pérdida cognitiva sin correspondencia con su rendimiento en pruebas estandarizadas. Es destacable el elevado volumen de demandas de los centros derivadores para evaluar a los pacientes ante la sospecha de déficits cognitivos graves o principios de demencia (confirmados en escasos pacientes que fueron derivados a Neurología para seguimiento).…”
