Marivivens donghaensis gen. nov., sp. nov., isolated from seawater

Abstract: A Gram-stain-negative, non-flagellated, aerobic and coccoid, ovoid or rod-shaped bacterium, designated T , was isolated from seawater collected from the East Sea, South Korea and subjected to a taxonomic study using a polyphasic approach. The novel strain grew optimally at 30-35 8C, at pH 7.0-8.

“…The genus Marivivens, belonging to the family Rhodobacteraceae within the order Rhodobacterales, was rst described by Park et al (2016). Currently the genus Marivivens comprises 2 species with validly published names: Marivivens donghaensis and Marivivens niveibacter.…”

“…Two species have been isolated from seawater. The common characteristics of the genus Marivivens include gram-stain-negative, aerobic, non-motile, catalase-and oxidase positive cells that contain Q-10 as a predominant respiratory quinone (Park et al 2016;Hu et al 2018). In this study, a bacterial strain GSB7 T was isolated from the Yellow Sea, South Korea.…”
