Measurement of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Attitude Angles Based on a Single Captured Image

Abstract: The limited load capacity and power resources of small-scale fixed-wing drones mean that it is difficult to employ internal high-precision inertial navigation devices to assist with the landing procedure. As an alternative, this paper proposes an attitude measurement system based on a monocular camera. The attitude angles are obtained from a single captured image containing five coded landmark points using the radial constraint method and three-dimensional coordinate transformations. The landing procedure is s… Show more

“…Zhang et al proposed a method for attitude angle measurement using a single captured image to assist with the landing of small-scale fixed-wing UAVs. The method has the advantage that the attitude angles are obtained from just one image containing five coded landmarks, which reduces the time to solve the attitude angle while having more than one image in most methods [16]. These kinds of methods require the manual setting of landmarks to deal with the corresponding problems.…”

“…Thus, the monocular vision pose measurement can be used to measure the pose between the packaging container and the sample return container (Wang et al, 2019). At present, monocular vision pose measurement methods are mostly based on point features (Zhang et al, 2018;David et al, 2004;Ning et al, 2018). Given a set of 3D points (e.g., marks and corners) and their corresponding 2D points, the pose of the target object can be solved.…”
