Synthesis, Characterisation and Electrochemical studies of Transition Metal complexes with bis-(macro-cyclic) Ligands

Abstract: The new macrocyclic ligand 5,5'-ethane bis-(10,14-dihydroxo 12-thio,1,5,9-triazacyclotetradeca 1,9-diene) has been prepared and characterised. Its transition metal complexes have been prepared and characterised by Melting point, elemental analyses, molar conductence, electronic and IR spectral studies.Based on these studies, probable structures have been proposed for these complexes

“…The observed electronic spectral bands of the glimepiride ligand and metal complex (copperglimepiride) are given in table 7as follows :- The electronic spectra of the Cu(II) complex of glimepiride shows an absorption bands at 25490 cm -1 and 20533 cm -1 attributed to the LMCT (ligand to metal charge transfer) and 2 Big g 2 A 1 g transition which is compatible with this complex having an square planar structure around the Cu(II) metal ion.
