Dynamic human development in the 21st Century demands students to make innovations in the world of education. Students are required to have 21st-century skills, namely creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. In contrast, teachers are required to have skills that must be mastered. The six capabilities are mastery of knowledge/content, mastery of 21st-century pedagogy, the ability of expertise in the development and achievement of students and give support, mastery of learning psychology skills; having counseling skills; and competence in using information technology and media. This article aims to discuss issues related to how to improve the ability of teachers and students to master 21st-century skills? Also, what extent is the role of digital literacy and STEM integration in improving 21st-century skills? This article using literature literacy methods sourced from international and national journals, books, and other relevant sources. Based on the study, it concluded that digital competence is not an absolute determinant of the development of 21st-century skills in students. Digital ability is a supporting factor for mastering 21st-century skills that should have been introduced and taught through schools. STEM learning with multidisciplinary mastery of science needs to be optimized in schools in Indonesia so that the expected learning objectives are in line with the demands of the 21st-century.

The 21 th Century is inseparable with the thing so-called 'digital technology'. Students are now definitely dependent to some internet platforms, such as yahoo or google, while trying to solve their learning queries, yet they do not thoroughly analyze the source, and it is so often that the papers of those students are merely the copies of the ones available online. In this digital era, a student ought to possess the skill to find the right information. Teachers should take their roles in order to optimize this kind of skill in their students. This research observed the application of a strategy namely 5R which is said to be complementary to the learning characteristic of the students of 21th century. The purpose of this study was to observe the effectivity of 5R (Research-based method, Relevance, Rational, Relaxed and Rapport) in affecting the skills of nowadays students. The effectivity was observed through student'slevel of creativity, critical thinking, communication and collaboration. This research was conducted by using 'control group posttest only' design, with the senior PGSD student of UniversitasMuhammadiyah Cirebon, who were taking the course namely 'the innovation in education', as the research subject. In order to find the effectivity level of 5R (Research-based method, Relevance, Rational, Relaxed and Rapport), the researcher conducted homogeneity test and t test. The mean value of the control group was 3.60 and the mean value of the experiment group was 3.86. This result indicated that there was a difference in these mean values. Through the t test, the researcher found that the value of 5R effectivity on the skill to find the right information (in the context of learning activity occurred in the course of 'innovation in education') was 0.032. This value is smaller than 0.05, meaning that the application of 5R could be deemed influential to the enhancement of student's skill in finding the right information online.

The change of time requires the world of education to adapt with its paradigm, strategy, and learning patterns. Industrial revolution 4.0 determines the field of work which has been developed by technological advances. This kind of changes demand the world of education to shift its education system to produce those who need the skills needed at this time. There are several skills that is mandatory for students in this industrial revolution 4.0 era, namely critical thinking skills or problem solving, creativity, collaboration, and communication. The data in this article comes from various sources, such as national and international journal articles, seminar articles, and related books. Furthermore, the data is analyzed to be presented about the implementation of the 4Cs in language learning. This learning design is devoted for writing and speaking subjects by utilizing technology and social media which is identify the students.Abstrak: Perubahan zaman menuntut dunia pendidikan untuk mengubah paradigma, strategi, dan pola pembelajarannya. Hadirnya era revolusi industri 4.0 berpengaruh pada bidang pekerjaan yang mayoritas telah dikendalikan oleh kemajuan teknologi. Perubahan secara sporadis tersebut menuntut dunia pendidikan untuk menggeser sistem pendidikannya dalam menghasilkan lulusan yang memiliki keterampilan yang dibutuhkan pada era ini. Ada beberapa keterampilan yang harus dikuasai oleh mahasiswa di era revolusi industri 4.0 ini, yaitu critical thinking skill atau problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, dan communication. Data dalam artikel ini berasal dari berbagai sumber, seperti artikel jurnal nasional dan internasional, artikel seminar, dan buku-buku terkait. Selanjutnya, data tersebut dianalisis untuk menyajikan perspektif tentang implementasi The 4Cs dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia. Desain pembelajaran tersebut dikhususkan pada pembelajaran menulis dan berbicara dengan memanfaatkan teknologi dan media sosial yang merupakan identitas bagi mahasiswa saat ini.
