Understanding an intended meaning of the expressive utterances becomes an important part in capturing text messages. This study focuses on classifying types of expressive, analyzing translation techniques of expressive utterances, and describing the subtitling accuracy in Aladdin movie script. The data were expressive utterances and their Indonesian translation taken from Aladdin movie script and their translation. The data were collected by means of content analysis, analyzed through descriptive qualitative method based on speech act theory of Searle (1985) and context situation theory of Brown and Yule (1983). The steps of analysis were identifying data, classifying data, describing the data, and drawing the conclusion. The results of the study show that there are eleven kinds of expressive utterances namely apologizing, thanking, condoling, congratulating, complaining, lamenting, protesting, deploring, boasting, complimenting, greeting, and welcoming. Besides, the study also found ten types of translation techniques: linguistics compression, established equivalence, literal translation, reduction, amplification, modulation, calque, transposition, adaption and compensation. The translation accuracy of expressive utterances used by translator in the movie script of Aladdin is an accurate translation.

The French version of Tintin en Amérique was translated into its Indonesian language counterpart. In the process of translating, however, it is inevitable that the translator will find difficulties since the languages are different. One of the most distinctive differences is that French has pronominal verbs. This research covers procedures used in translating French pronominal verbs based on Newmark's translation procedures approach (1988) and Catford's translation shift theory (1965). The result shows that only 4 out of 15 procedures were used, all of which support the hypothesis of using communicative translation to translate a comic book because it has to be focused on the readership itself. The modulation procedure is the most used to translate the verbs, and because of that, this shows that the translation of this comic book is focused on the target language culture rather than the culture of the source language. Unit and class shifts help in improving the effectiveness of the sentence and can give a precise meaning of the pronominal verb that does not exist in Bahasa Indonesia. The absence of passive pronominal verbs in the comic might be due to Tintin's characteristics as he is a detective that is constantly active in every situation.

This study was focused on evaluating the quality of the Indonesian-English translation of the research abstract written by the students of Harapan Bangsa University. The analysis included the analysis of translation quality in terms of accuracy, naturalness, acceptability, and readability as well as the translation ideology. The results of the study showed that the accuracy of the research abstract translation was dominated by highly accurate translation and less accurate translation in the target language which shared the same percentage as many as 36%. In terms of naturalness, it showed that 34% of the translation was categorized into highly natural. With regard to translation acceptability, it showed that 61% of the data belonged to acceptable. Meanwhile, in terms of translation readability, it showed that 75% of the data was categorized as readable. The register and genre of the research abstract texts and its translation were kept equivalent and holding the same purposes as it was translated overtly. In translating the research abstract text, it is suggested that the translator could highly consider the accuracy, naturalness, acceptability, and readability of the translation, particularly for target readers. With regard to the translation ideology, the translator is suggested to grasp the register and genre of the text before the translation process and regard the target readers to determine whether the text should be translated covertly or overtly.
