This study aims to find out how the way and process of biogas production to obtain the results of methane (CH4) to the maximum by using materials from organic household food waste and organic waste market. This type of research is experimental, where the authors do the planning, design, manufacture, and testing directly in the field to find out the results of the experiment. The process in this study includes the selection of materials divided into 2, namely market waste and household organic waste which then each fermented for 12 days, after sampling for the test flame and test the methane gas content produced. The results showed that the market organic waste is better used as a material for the manufacture of biogas compared with household food waste because the market organic waste does not require a long time to burn, in the process of testing the methane gas content of organic waste market has a higher methane gas content 52.8% compared with household organic waste which is only 0.29%.Keywords: Biogas, Methane (CH4), Organic waste market, Household organic waste, fermentation
Reading comprehension part is being the most difficult part in TOEFL based on the researcher's observations. Although they were given some strategies on reading comprehension, but there were still many students who found difficulty when solved the problems. One of the external factors cause the lower reading comprehension skills of students that is influenced by teaching method in the classroom and students' learning motivation as internal factors. The method which was applied in this research was experimental study in order to know the difference and effect between Direct Instruction teaching method and Roundtable Cooperative teaching method for teaching reading comprehension on TOEFL. The data were analyzed by using multifactor analysis of ANOVA 2x2 and tukey test. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that Roundtable Cooperative teaching method is significantly different from Direct Instruction teaching method to teach reading comprehension on TOEFL. The reading comprehension of the students who have high motivation is significantly different from that of those who have low motivation. Roundtable Cooperative teaching method is more effective than Direct Instruction teaching method to teach reading comprehension on TOEFL for the students who have high motivation; however for the students who have low motivation, Direct Instruction teaching method is more effective than Roundtable Cooperative teaching method to teach reading comprehension on TOEFL. Thus, there is an interaction between teaching methods and students' learning motivation for teaching reading comprehension on TOEFL. The effectiveness of the teaching method depends on the degree of the students' motivation.
Youtube beyond the formal classroom. Methods: A qualitative inquiry approach was employed in this study. Twenty-two university students in Central Java province Indonesia who had substantial experiences of watching English-teaching videos were purposively invited for a semi-structured interview to depict how they performed self-directed learning. The data were qualitatively analyzed by classifying based on the main themes, coding, reviewing, and conclusion drawing Findings: the results portrayed that the most dominant goals of self-directed language learning on Youtube were to look for more learning sources, to enhance English skills and vocabulary, and to explore cultural knowledge. Another finding showed that learning English on Youtube was more interesting and flexible without time and space restriction. Conclusion: Youtube videos offers a fertile ground for educational purposes, particularly for developing English skills in a self-directed learning beyond formal classroom.
As an action research in nature, the research aimed to test the progress of the students’ ESP writing skills when guided writing technique is implemented in writing class and to know the ESP students’ attitude towards guided writing technique. This action research is conducted in two cycles. In collecting the data, the researcher uses qualitative and quantitave technique. The qualitative data are obtained from observation, interview, and test analysis. The qualitative data are supported by quantitative data that are the mean score of students’ pre-test and post-test on ESP writing. The procedure of guided writing which is implemented in ESP writing class are model paragraph, comprehension questions, language based exercises, oral composition, and written composition. After the analysis of data collected through test items, it was seen improvement in students’ ESP writing skills in post-test than in pre-test. The students have shown their improvement such as they are able to construct sentences correctly. They could use appropriate language use when created the pattern of tenses, article, preposition, pronoun, conjunction, and part of speech and also they used better mechanical aspects in writing like capitalization, punctuation, and spelling in post-test than in pretest. Moreover, they can use correct ESP diction on their writing after implemented this technique. The ESP students’ attitudes also were enthusiastic and more active involved in ESP writing class.
