Stroke has a negative impact on families who provide care for post-stroke patients, the effect of which is due to functional deficits experienced by post-stroke sufferers which result in dependence on families for daily activities. The research objective was to explore in depth the experiences of families caring for post-stroke sufferers in Jambi city in 2019. This study used a qualitative method with a descriptive phenomenology approach. Participants in this study amounted to nine people who were selected using purposive sampling. Data is collected by semi-structured interview in duration of 60-90 minutes. Data analysis using the colaizzi method. The results found four themes, namely: dependence on daily activities on the family, family efforts to fulfill self-care activities, constraints faced by caregivers and family expectations. Conclusion: Families experience limited knowledge and skills, difficulties in meeting patients' ADLs, changes in physical conditions, changes in rest and sleep, changes in psychological conditions, changes in social activities, and economic changes. Therefore families need to get education from doctors, nurses and stroke team members starting from the time the patient is admitted to the hospital and re-evaluated when the patient is going home, about the knowledge and skills to treat post-stroke patients at home.
Background: Many hemodialysis patients experience fatigue as a result of not achieving dialysis adequacy.Purpose: This study was designed to determine the effect of intradialytic range-of-motion exercises on dialysis adequacy and fatigue in patients undergoing hemodialysis. Methods: In this two-arm experimental study with repeated measures, participants were allocated to treatment (n = 25, 23 completed) and control (n = 25, 24 completed) groups using computerized simple random sampling. Participants in the treatment group performed 30-minute weekly intradialytic exercise sessions in addition to receiving standard care, whereas those in the control group received standard care only. Results: Fatigue and dialysis characteristics were reported at baseline, at the midpoint (end of Week 4), and at the end of Week 8. Whereas mean Kt/V (dialysis adequacy) and urea reduction ratio increased and the fatigue level decreased in the treatment group, these variables did not change in the control group. Significant mean differences in Kt/V, urea reduction ratio, and fatigue between the groups were observed at the end of Week 8.Conclusions: Intradialytic range-of-motion exercises are recommended for patients undergoing hemodialysis to increase dialysis adequacy and reduce fatigue.
Uncontrolled hypertension causes heart attacks, Cardiomegali, Heart Failure, Stroke, Kidney Failure, Blindness, and Cognitive Impairment. It requires proper strategy to maintain blood pressure in patients with hypertension called self management which consist of medication compliance, normal weight maintanance, low sodium consumption, physical activity, alcohol restriction and smoking cessation.. This research aimed to explore a deep understanding about the experience of Hypertension patients in carrying out self management. This research used qualitative method with descriptive phenomenology. Four people are selected by puposive sampling technique. Technique of data collection in this research with in-depth interviews. The data finding of this research were analyzed using Collaizi's method. The finding of data analyze is found eight theme: (1) the response to the disease suffered high blood pressure (2) first experience of hypertension (3) controlling (4) to cope with drug (5) maintain the health of the body (6) dietary changes (7) not smoking and drinking alcohol(8) family support.
