The purpose of the research is to analyze plosive and fricative consonants pronunciation errors in recordings that made by students in vocational high school in Jakarta. The research method that used to analyze plosive and fricative consonants pronunciation errors in recordings that made by the students is descriptive qualitative method and based only on a few sound recordings. After the researcher analyzes the recordings, the researcher then found that the students still make the errors in pronouncing the words containing plosive and fricative consonants. The students' most pronunciation errors occur on pronouncing some of the consonants. The students do most errors of pronouncing consonants because they are not familiar on how they should be pronounced, and also the cause of students' pronunciation errors is the different sound between English and Indonesian. Most of students make errors in plosive consonants for about 36% in total and for the errors 64% in fricative consonants.
Di era globalisasi ini guru dituntut agar dapat berprestasi baik di forum regional, nasional maupun di internasional. Agar dapat berprestasi dengan baik di forum internasional maka para guru harus mengetahui sampai sejauh mana kemampuan bahasa Inggris mereka. Untuk mengetahui sejauh mana kemampuan bahasa Inggris para guru, mereka dapat mengikuti tes bahasa Inggris. Tetapi banyak sekali jenis tes bahasa Inggris yang diselenggarakan. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk memberikan sosialisasi kepada para guru mengenai tes bahasa Inggris yang dapat diambil sehingga dapat sesuai dengan kebutuhan mereka. Hasil yang didapatkan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah meningkatnya pemahaman para guru mengenai tes bahasa Inggris sehingga nantinya mereka bisa menentukan tes mana yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan mereka.
Suhu politik di Indonesia akhir-akhir ini mulai hangat dikarenakan residu pemilu baik nasional maupun daerah. Khususnya Pilkada DKI Jakarta pada 2017 yang sarat akan intrik politik dan agama. Terpilihnya Anies Baswedan sebagai Gubernur Jakarta menimbulkan dua kelompok yang saling berseberangan yaitu pendukung dan pengkritik. Setiap kebijakan dan pernyataan Anies selalu ramai dibicarakan baik di media massa maupun media sosial. Anies sadar akan hal tersebut sehingga setiap pernyataan yang dikeluarkan selalu dibungkus dengan retorika yang rapi dan terstruktur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui retorika Anies Baswedan dan efek terhadap citra diri. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelusuran mengungkapkan bahwa pengendalian Anies sanggatlah luar biasa dalam bertutur. Anies mampu memosisikan dirinya sesuai lawan bicaranya, hal tersebut terlihat dari setiap pemilihan diksi yang hendak diutarakan, teknis, intonasi, dan cara berbicara tidak pernah emosional. Retorika sanggatlah penting bagi seorang pemimpin sebagai prasyarat untuk menyampaikan dan mempersuasi khalayak, apalagi di era modern saat ini di mana mudahnya khalayak mendapatkan akses digital dan mudah sekali melihat figur pemimpinnya..
Dictionary has an important role in the language learning process where the dictionary is used as a learning tool. As a learning tool, dictionary can be used independently because there a lot of features in it such as meaning, pronunciation, types of words, word order and structure. At present, dictionaries available in two versions, they are printed and digital versions which can be in the form of websites or applications. The aim of this research is to find out the use of English digital dictionaries by undergraduate students, especially majoring in non-English language program. Based on the results of interviews with informants and a questionnaire administered to 67 students, this study used a qualitative descriptive method with data analysis. The results of the study found that digital dictionaries are used for language learning, translation and to improve English knowledge. It is strongly suggested to government to give access to the internet since those dictionaries sometimes use network. The developer of the application is also encouraged to make it accessible offline. The research team also suggest for future researcher to find out about the effect of using a digital dictionary on English learning.
