Quality of Service (QoS) is a method of measurement used to determine the capacity of a network to perform services. One of the QoS implementations is to manage the performance of routing protocol. The routing protocol is a method used to connect one router to another, to convey information correctly and to provide a guaranteed service. This study discusses the QoS of the Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) applied to campus area network. EIGRP is a routing protocol which only available on Cisco routers and often refers to the proprietary protocol on Cisco. EIGRP can only be applied by Cisco routers and their fellow. Campus area network is an interconnection of computer networks within the campus area. Data exchange on campus network should be undertaken quickly and precisely to facilitate campus operations. The method used in this study was Network Development Life Cycle (NDLC) which consisted of several phases, namely analysis, design, simulation prototyping, implementation, monitoring, and management. The results of this study provided QoS with a throughput value of 77 bps, 0.53 percent of the packet loss value, 1.89 ms of latency, and 1.87 ms of jitter value. This indicates that the EIGRP routing protocol has a strong QoS value to be applied to campus area networks.
<p>Since English was declared as lingua franca and also because more foreign companies established in Indonesia, so mastering English is becoming one of the most important preparations for the Indonesian nation to face AEC (ASEAN Economic Community). This article aimed to explore about the importance of English for Moslem students in AEC preparation, Moslem students’ English competency for struggling AEC, and to see curriculum concern on fulfilling the need of Moslem students relate to AEC. This research was developed qualitatively. It was found that learning English is very crucial for Moslem students since AEC has started. However, their English competency has not been balanced with the need because IAIN Bukittinggi has just implemented English in two semesters only.
This study is aimed at developing life skill based English instructional material in bilingual pesantren by using 4D Model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). To achieve this aim, this study was conducted using the Research Development (R d) method. As parts of this method, a series of data collecting techniques involving pre-experimental teaching, interviews, observations, and tests of effectiveness, practicality and validity, were carried out to gather both quantitative and qualitative data. The participants of this study were one English language teacher and students of Class XI Timur Tengah, Insan Cendikia Boarding School (ICBS) Payakumbuh. The findings of this research reveal that the life skill based instructional material is valid and practical. Consequently, the life skill-based materials development can positively give the effective result as the innovation in English instructional material
The purpose of this study is to analyze syntactic structures on the relative clause and errors in writing relative clause. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative. The population of this research was the sixth semester students of the English Department consisting of 143 students. The researcher took 20% population. The sample was selected through random sampling techniques and the researchers took 28 samples. The data were collected using documentation. The result shows that there were many relative clauses and errors in writing the relative clause. There are 24 relative clauses in class A, 37 relative clauses in class B, 20 relative clauses in class C and 27 relative clauses in class D that represented by parsing diagram. Students also make errors in writing relative clauses where there are 4 types of errors made by students in a relative clause. The types of errors are omission error, addition error, regularization error, and misordering. The students made 39 omission errors, 1 addition error, 21 regularization errors and 8 misordering. Thus, it can be concluded that there are 108 relative clauses that analyzed by parsing diagram and the total errors who made by students of the sixth semester of the English Department of IAIN Bukittinggi is 69 errors in relative clause. Based on David P. Harris theory, 69 is fair level so that students' understanding of the relative clause is fair.
<p style="text-align: justify;">The purpose of this research is to investigate the Vocabulary Learning Strategies (VLS) employed by international students who are studying English as a second language at the English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students Program (ELICOS) of the University of Canberra College English Language Centre (UCCELC) in Australia. A qualitative design was used to gather information from six international students from different countries including Indonesia, China, Philippine, and Japan by using interviews. The results from the interview were then analyzed and presented by using the qualitative research procedures including coding, grouping, argument construction, and drafting. The finding of this research revealed that students at the ELICOS program employ various VLS including cognitive, metacognitive, memory, and social strategies. Cognitive strategies are identified as the most popular strategies used by the students, followed by metacognitive and memory strategies respectively and social strategies are recognized as the least popular. These findings have important implications in improving the quality of language teaching and learning process and enriching the research repertoire in the field of VLS.</p><p> </p><p style="text-align: justify;"><em>Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui strategi pembelajaran kosa kata yang digunakan oleh mahasiswa internasional yang sedang mempelajari bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa kedua di English Language Intensive Course for Foreign Students Program (ELICOS) di University of Canberra College English Language Centre (UCCELC) di Australia.
