This case study aims to identify chemistry education students' perspectives on attitudes and implementation of the principles of green chemistry during the COVID-19 pandemic. The participant of this study was 64 chemistry education students who, from the beginning, have conducted online learning, including practicum. The instrument of this research was an online questionnaire to gain the required information. The data were analyzed using NVivo 12 software and presented in percentages based on 12 principles of green chemistry: (1) potential waste generation reduction, (2) efficient use of raw materials, (3) application of environmentally safe production methods, (4) environmentally friendly chemicals, (5) safer additives, (6) minimal use of heat, (7) natural ingredients, (8) reaction products with minimal by-products, (9) the use of effective catalysts, (10) easily biodegradable products for the environment, (11) time management of hazardous products, and (12) anticipation for physical contact with hazardous materials. Moreover, 85% of the students agree that the 12 th principle must be well applied. The research findings serve a discourse for lecturers to convince the students to understand and implement the principles of green chemistry in practicum activities, especially during the pandemic.
Hands-on chemistry activity or practical work is an important aspect of teaching at the high school and college level as part of the science education curriculum. This study aims to design Small-scale Chemistry (SSC) for general chemistry practical work. The product are laboratory work manual and practical kit. The development model used is ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). At the analysis stage, five experiment will be designed to become SSC. There are five experiments, namely determining the order of the reaction, observation the shift in chemical equilibrium, identification acid-base with indicators, determining the strength of the acid and water electrolysis. The feasibility of the manual and practical kit in content feasibility (0.84), language feasibility (0.90), presentation feasibility (0.84), graphic feasibility (0.90), and kit feasibility (0.94). All are categorized as valid based on the validity criteria of Aiken's V. The results of the implementation show that the SSC design can be implemented and the results can be observed for General Chemistry experiment learning activities. The chemicals used for the experiment are far less than the macro-scale practical work. This is in accordance with the SSC principle.
Science process skills are closely related to science. One of way to practice science process skills to students is laboratory experiments. Its main activity involves various student activities such as designing experiments, assembling and using equipments, analyzing and predicting data. This study aims to describe the profile of practical implementation and problems of chemistry subject at senior high school in Tanjungpura. The survey using interviews, questionnaires and observations towards to the principal, teachers and student of senior high schools at Tanjung Pura. Survey data were analyzed descriptively. The results obtained show that the practical implementation have less good criteria based on the questionnaire responses of teachers and students. Some aspects that show fairly low percentage is the availability of time, equipment and materials, practical guidance. In addition to the motivational aspect from environment is less supportive practicum. The results also show that there were problem such as laboratory facilities that not utilized; limited school support, lacked laboratory management, low teacher teacher preparation, practical implementation is not helped by a laboratory technician. For next research, there are development of practical guidence and inovation of practical equipment.
