This study aims to determine the results of the validity and effectiveness of the textbooks. The research used is the research and development research of the Borg and Gall model with 10 stages of research, namely preliminary research, planning and development, initial product design development, product validation, initial product revision, use trials, product development revisions, effectiveness trials, final product, dissemination. The results of data analysis for sixth grade students at SDN 1 Grajagan, SDN 4 Grajagan, and SDN 8 Grajagan during validation showed the average percentage of validity was 91.72 percent so that it was in the very valid category. The effectiveness of the product is seen based on student responses and learning outcomes tests. The results of the data during the limited trial showed a positive response to the product by 88.4 percent. Meanwhile, the results of the product effectiveness trial at SDN 1 Grajagan, SDN 4 Grajagan, SDN 8 Grajagan were 80 percent, 72.22 percent, 90 percent respectively. This shows that Augmented Reality (AR) based textbooks are very feasible and effective to use when learning.
The University of Jember as a centre for biotechnology research in Indonesia also has the responsibility of developing biotechnology research results for the public. The urgency in fostering public understanding of biotechnology needs attention. Based on the results of a survey conducted, it shows that 75% of Jember University students do not understand biotechnology and the superior biotechnology products of the University of Jember. One way of developing this biotechnology information to the public is through the use of learning media. The research objective was to analyze the virtual needs of biotechnology laboratories for agriculture and health. The results show that students in higher education ranks have standard knowledge of virtual laboratories. Students also need skills in developing virtual laboratories and providing laboratories in learning and practicum. This shows that the development of a virtual laboratory is required to develop effectiveness and improvement of students’ skills in higher education.
The purpose of this study is to describe the students' higher order thinking skills based on the concept of cognitive domain thinking in the revised version of Bloom's taxonomy on the science with ecosystem themes at elementary schools. This study used descriptive research with qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were the fifth grade students at SDN Kepatihan 06 Jember, SDN Sumbersari 03 Jember, and SDN kebonsari 04 Jember. The data were collected through tests and interviews. The results of this research were the students' higher order thinking skills in the elementary schools had various categories, namely low, medium and high categories. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the students' higher order thinking skills on the science with ecosystem theme at elementary schools were low category with 86.08%, medium category with 12.66%, and high category with 1.26%. The low level of thinking ability was influenced by the level of understanding of the concepts in the ecosystem material that led students to have problem in understanding it.
