The superhero universe has always been an attraction in the world of film industry. The birth of superhuman ideas has made people increasingly interested in taking the storyline. This research is a literature study on the existence of a new world in Indonesian cinema that takes the theme of Indonesia's superhero universe competes against the universe of American superheroes. The purpose of this study is to compare Indonesian and American superhero films in order to understand the complete concept of depicting Indonesian superheroes in the process of switching from comics to films comparing with the same concepts in American superheroes. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method by comparing films from the Indonesian superhero universe namely Bumilangit Cinematic Universe and Jagad Satria Dewa Cinematic Universe compared to the American superhero universe namely Marvel Cinematic Universe and DC Cinematic Universe. The results obtained that there were some similarities in the process of character formation in each of the heroes that were created, this could be described with similarity in multiple personalities before and after becoming superheroes, costumes worn, storylines and special effects produced in the film. There were fundamental differences that were seen in the background of Indonesian culture that was different from the concept of American culture. Indonesian superheroes also highlighted Pencak Silat as the original identity and characteristics of Indonesia. This research concluded that a story with a superhero concept had the same story pattern such as a person with a superhero alter ego and deep with heroic storyline even though they were presented by different countries.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, face-to-face interactions are still not permitted for the teaching and learning process. This condition has led to changes to the existing learning method to willy-nilly switch from conventional classes to what is called distance learning. Distance learning is referred to as online learning as its implementation requires Internet media that accommodate lecturers to interact with students online. The success of implementing online learning contributes to the learner’s satisfaction within the process of teaching and learning. This study used three applications—Camtasia video creator, YouTube, and Google Classroom—to assess how learners perceive the synchronous and asynchronous learning they have received. This study used a hybrid technique, combining a Google Form online survey with qualitative analysis of the respondents' answers. 52 students from the English Literature Department's Intermediate English Grammar Class served as the research participants. The findings indicate that the majority of students react well to the adoption of asynchronous learning when those three programs are used. The flexibility of access and timing is the most important and beneficial benefit. The integration between those three applications in conducting asynchronous learning is expected to provide a new perspective on implementing technology in English language teaching. Program Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat dengan judul pelatihan English for Educator Bagi Guru Tingkat SMK di Kota Semarang merupakan pelatihan Bahasa Inggris yang dikhususkan untuk pengajaran di kelas. Mitra dalam pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah institusi pendidikan vokasi yakni Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan Persatuan Guru Republik Indonesia 01 yang terletak di kota Semarang. Permasalahan yang dialami mitra yakni kurangnya kemampuan guru SMK PGRI 01 Semarang untuk mengajar dengan menggunakan Bahasa Inggris. Hal tersebut karena kurangnya pelatihan bahasa Inggris yang dikhususkan untuk guru-guru di sekolah tersebut. Secara spesifik, kurangnya kemampuan guru dalam bahasa Inggris yakni dalam keterampilan speaking (berbicara). Solusi permasalahan mitra yang ditawarkan dalam pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah pelatihan English for Educator yakni pelatihan untuk guru-guru/pengajar yang merupakan gabungan dari metode classroom language dan bahasa Inggris dasar. Pada pelaksanaan pelatihan ditemukan bahwa penguasaan vocabulary peserta kurang memadai. Oleh karena itu, efektivitas pelatihan berbasis speaking kurang terlihat efektivitasnya. Pelatihan berbasis vocabulary perlu dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan guru dalam ketrampilan speaking.
Covid-19 pandemic has forced college students to study using online learning platforms. Therefore, this study focuses to examine the preferred media to facilitate e-learning and the students’ perception in using e-learning as a means of assessment. This study observes students from two private universities in Central Java namely Universitas Ngudi Waluyo and Universitas AKI, Indonesia, who have all taken English for Academic Purposes (EAP) lecture using YouTube and WhatsApp platform. 123 feedbacks were collected, and 17 students were chosen randomly to verify their answers of the questionnaires. The results of this study showed that e-learning using YouTube was preferable for students compared to using WhatsApp Group. The major problem of utilizing YouTube as e-learning was the slow and expensive data plan. The second result pointed out that most of the students or around 63% of the populations were neutral in terms of satisfaction level of online assessment. It could be inferred that this assessment method was acceptable for the students.
Corona Virus Disease 2019 or COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by SARS-CoV-2, a type of coronaviruses. People with COVID-19 may experience fever, dry cough, and difficulty breathing. The deaths recorded were 2,970 people and confirmed positive cases in Semarang were 677 people. The very fast transmission of COVID-19 has now become an issue that is being addressed globally, including in Indonesia. Based on the concept of handling health, the neglected problems are caused by ignorance, inability and unwillingness. To solve them, the activity for serving community was carried out. This activity consisted of the first stage by making a Covid-19 task force at RW level consisting of 15 people. The second stage was by increasing participants' understanding of foreign terms related to Covid-19 by 94.5%. The third stage of this activity was by gaining an understanding of the participants about the efforts to prevent Covid-19 at the household and community level by 87.5%. And the fourth stage was by getting an understanding of the Covid-19 vaccination by 81.25%. An effort to increase the role of the community in preventing Covid-19 is by doing similar activities periodically in the same location, therefore it can strengthen the community. An education about correct health information is important to be given to avoid misinterpretation.ABSTRAKCorona Virus Disease 2019 atau COVID-19 adalah penyakit menular yang disebabkan oleh SARS-CoV-2, salah satu jenis koronavirus. Penderita COVID-19 dapat mengalami demam, batuk kering, dan kesulitan bernafas. Jumlah kematian tercatat 2.970 orang dan kasus positif yang terkonfirmasi di Kota Semarang adalah 677 orang. Penularan COVID-19 yang sangat cepat kini telah menjadi isu yang sedang ditangani secara global termasuk di Indonesia.. Berdasarkan konsep penanganan kesehatan, bahwa terabaikannya permasalahan disebabkan oleh ketidaktahuan, ketidakmampuan dan ketidakmauan, maka kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan. Dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini, pada tahap pertama telah terbentuk sebuah kelompok satuan tugas penanganan Covid19 tingkat RW yang terdiri dari 15 orang. Pada tahap yang kedua, terdapat peningkatan pemahaman oleh peserta tentang istilah-istilah asing yang terkait dengan Covid 19 sebanyak 94,5%. Tahap ketiga kegiatan ini mendapatkan pemahaman tentang upaya pencegahan Covid19 pada tingkat rumah tangga dan masyarakat sebanyak 87,5%. Dan tahap yang keempat mendapatkan pemahaman tentang vaksinasi covid 19 sebanyak 81,25%. Dalam upaya lebih meningkatkan peran masyarakat dalam pencegahan Covid 19 maka kegiatan serupa perlu dilakukan secara berkala di lokasi yang sama, hal ini dapat menjadi upyaa penguatan di masyarakat. Edukasi kepada masyarakata tentang informasi kesehatan yang benar penting diberikan agar tidak menimbulkan pemahaman yang tidak diinginkan.
