Natural theology is an underdeveloped theological theme in the recent Indonesian theological scholarship. That fact is unfortunate considering the significance of the topic to the context of religious pluralism in Indonesia. Natural theology is interdisciplinary and interreligious in nature; thus, it might open scholarly discussion for scholars from many disciplines with diverse religious backgrounds. Using a systematic theology approach, this articleargues that developing natural theology could keep balance for Christian emphasis on general and special revelation that might lead toward the enrichment of the Christian faith.
Beberapa isu pokok yang akan dibahas dalam tulisan ini antara lain: 1) Adanya anggapan dari jemaat bahwa pelayanan itu hanya tugas gembala jemaat karena telah mengikuti pembelajaran khusus di sekolah tinggi teologi. 2) Peranan penatua kurang maksimal karena gembala jemaat tidak mempersiapkannya melalui pembinaan. 3) Penatua tidak menjalankan tugas dengan maksimal karena tidak mengerti. Tujuan penelitian yaitu untuk memberikan pemahaman bahwa tugas pelayanan itu bukan hanya dilakukan oleh gembala jemaat, itu sebabnya perlu mempersiapkan pembinaan bagi calon penatua agar memberikan dukungan terhadap pelayanan. Mengikutsertakan penatua perlu dimulai dengan pembinaan agar mengerti Firman Tuhan dan mengerti perannya dalam pelayanan. Metode yang digunakan adalah ceramah dan pelatihan dengan harapan dapat memberi pemahaman kepada para calon majelis bahwa pelayanan juga menjadi tanggung jawabnya.
Religion always teaches about love, however, violence in the name of religion is keep occuring, in which Christianity is not exempted. Jesus Christ is the center of the Christian faith, and love is the centre of his teachings. Unfortunately, many religious people committed violence, even those who confessed to being Christians. Religion has contributed to the development of violence in this world. This article attempts to present a Christian theological reflection might help to fight violence through reflecting upon the Christology of Revelation 5:5-6. This article is a qualitative research that uses practical theology approach to engage with the text. The main argument is that the dual metaphors of the lion and the lamb in the text show an ethical implication that God, through Jesus Christ, has chosen love over violence as the way to restore the fallen creation. The true religion is the one that promote love and fight violence, especially violence in the name of religion.
The leaders of Indonesia were mistrusted for a period of time, and that prevented them from serving as role models. The abuse of power by those in authority has affected Indonesia and if this is not checked and corrected, the country would be destroyed. In Indonesia, the loss of the leader’s integrity is quite alarming since it has the potential to jeopardize the country’s sense of security. Building Indonesia in the future requires a radical shift in leadership. Using a qualitative descriptive method, this paper proposes that real leaders for Indonesia should have a strong faith foundation coupled with professionalism and a strong work ethic.
