Life skills introduced at an early years will help children become to be responsibility, independent and disciplined for the future. The provision of stimulation of life skills must be adapted to the local wisdom of the region in order to become a nation's strength in shaping the identity and character of Indonesian children. This study aims to produce a development model in the form of a life skills curriculum model for early childhood based on Indonesian local wisdom. The research method used is research and development. The development of the early life skills curriculum model was carried out through survey and documentation studies in 4 (four) provinces (Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi and Kalimantan). The results of the first year study show that teachers have taught life skills in early childhood that is self-help skills and social skills. The stimulation of life skills is taught through habituation, modeling, and cultural-based exemplary activities in the local area.
The research aims to develop a series of effective communication-based teaching skills for early childhood education teachers that develop in accordance with the Indonesian National Curriculum framework used recently in Department of Early Childhood Education, Faculty of Education, State University Jakarta. Research will be conducted in two years using research and development methods. The literature review has been conducted on effective communication and teaching skills for the first year and a series of teaching skill indicators. Data gathered from early childhood education teachers in Jakarta are related to the theory and practice of teaching skills with observation, interviews and performance tests. The results of the study are indicators for Early Childhood Education (PAUD) teacher teaching skills. On the other hand, drafts of effective communication practices are conducted to be applied in teacher teaching skills. These two concepts will be used to develop a model of effective communication based teaching skills for teachers of early childhood. The result can be consideration of educational institutions educators, researchers and governments in developing training models to improve teacher teaching skills.
Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk membantu guru dalam merancang kegiatan stimulasi untuk anak usia dini khususnya dalam stimulasi keterampilan sosial. Anak usia dini perlu diberikan stimulasi keterampilan sosial agar dapat berinteraksi dengan baik di lingkungannya. Keterampilan sosial yang dapat distimulasi pada anak usia dini antara lain, 1) Bermain dengan semua teman, 2) Berbagi dan Menolong, 3) Bekerjasama, 4) Memecahkan Masalah, 5) Memahami Aturan, dan 6) Mengekspresikan perasaannya. Metode pengabdian yang digunakan adalah pelatihan bagi guru PAUD di Wilayah Kecamatan Duren Sawit Jakarta Timur sebanyak 35 orang yang dilaksanakan pada bulan Agustus 2019. Hasil pengabdian adalah guru PAUD memiliki pemahaman tentang materi keterampilan sosial, mampu mengembangkan program kegiatan stimulasi, mengembangkan media untuk stimulasi keterampilan sosial, dan melakukan praktek stimulasi keterampilan sosial. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini berjalan efektif dan memberikan manfaaat bagi guru PAUD dalam merancang kegiatan dan mengembangkan media untuk stimulasi keterampilan sosial anak usia dini.
