Blended learning is a lecturer learning concept supported by e-learning so that it could be complement each other's in shortcomings. This study aims to determine the effect of blended learning on students learning achievement in Mechanical Engineering Department, including: (1) the significant improvement of student's achievement before and after using the blended learning method; and (2) the significance differences in student's achievements between students who use and do not use blended learning method. This research was quasi experimental research using the pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. The sample were students of mechanical engineering department consist of 30 students as group control and 30 students as group experimental. The data collected through assessments of pertest and posttests result were analysed using the t-test. The results showed that: (1) there was significant improvement in student achievement (Sig. 0.00 < 0.05) after applied the blended learning method; and (2) there is significant difference of student achievement (Sig. 0.00 < 0.05) between experimental group using blended learning and control group using lecture method. Hence, blended learning method has an effect on students achievement.
Batik is well known as an intangible cultural heritage. In Indonesia, batik is produced in several areas, with its own characteristics. The batik production process goes through several stages, in which overall processes require the aid of chemicals. Conventionally, the batik production process results in environmental pollution due to direct waste disposal without any significant processing. Along with the increase in public awareness of environmental protection, the batik dyeing process currently backs to natural dyes. The study was conducted to examine the production intention of natural dyes batik. A total of 209 producers of natural dyed batik became respondents in this study. Data collection was carried out directly through filling out paper-based questionnaires as well as using online forms. The findings of this study revealed that producers’ attitude and satisfaction gave significant positive influences on the production intention of natural dyes batik products. Moreover, the findings exhibited the significant effects of social value, quality value, and green value on the attitude and satisfaction of the producer. Attitude was also determined by economic value, but satisfaction was insignificantly affected by economic value. Production intention was strongly predicted by satisfaction and also determined by attitude. The results of this study support in enhancing the concept of natural dyes batik production, which also provide an important role toward sustainable production.
Lombok Island is a new magnet of touristic destination, where the number of travelers grow by 13% for domestic and 15% annually for international travelers in the last ten years. In spite of this impressive growth in the tourism sector, the public transportation and availability of touristic information remain lacking. The study aims to contribute to address the above challenges, in order to support the marine tourism in Lombok. Following the Intelligent Transportation Systems Architecture, the followings are undertaken, namely identification of users’ need, design of functional and communication architecture, and the design of an application mockup. The analysis shows that the deployment of a mobile application would save considerable time and money for both travelers and transport operators. The introduction of a mobile app would be justified, as its investment is economically feasible, and its benefit cost ratio of 1.8.
This study aims to identify on student perception of top 15 skills needed in industrial revolution 4.0. This research was survey research using crosssectional design. The sample was the student of faculty engineering, amounting to 210 students. The sample were established using purposive sampling. The data collection used instrument through questionnaire sheet. The data analysis used the descriptive statistic. This results study identified the top 15 skills as perceived the most important by student's: responsibility and accountability; collaboration; adaptability; professional ethics; technical and literate communication; complex problem solving; self-awareness; creativity, innovation, practical ingenuity; critical and logical thinking; understanding of diversity; teamwork; application and use of technological skills; entrepreneurship; emotional intelligence; and intercultural skills.
Jepara wood carving is one of the riches of ancestral cultural heritage in the past, creating various types and distinctive carved ornaments as Jepara local wisdom. The structure of wood carving as an art form is sometimes juxtaposed with visual language, which is when someone learns to understand and learn how each element is arranged together. The parts and objectives of woodcarving as the language have their own meanings and important to learn for science. The organization of visual elements in woodcarving is called formal values or syntactic values and raises an additional source of satisfaction and pleasure. From this case, the study of the elements of woodcarving and organizing ornaments is an attempt to describe the public's attention to sources that rise to pleasure, aesthetic meaning, and the functions. Jepara's woodcarving instills a cultural understanding, and as a reference in achieving science, economic growth, and art to create a smart society. In connection with this matter, Vocational School as a place to learn skills is very appropriate as a medium and a means to realize these goals, accompanied by supporting and relevant research. The research uses a literature study, observation, documentation, interviews, experiment methods. The stages of woodcarving preservation are embodiment process, an inventory of existing Jepara`s wood carvings, and then analyzing the data; inventory of batik, craftsmen, artists, woodcarvings that have acquired copyright and industrial areas.
