This study examines the students' perceptions towards online learning at Universitas Malikusaleh in Lhokseumawe City during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study reviews the perceptions of students at this higher education institution about the online learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic. The study covered the learning process, learning environment, and learning motivation. The method used in this research is a quantitative approach where the researchers distributed a self-administered questionnaire consisting of 16 items to the respondents online using Google Form. 100 respondents from Universitas Malikussaleh across faculties participated in the questionnaires. The data were then processed using SPSS Software. The results of the study exposed that students have negative attitude towards online learning during Covid-19 pandemic.
Purpose-The purpose of this paper is to examine the causational effect of both internal and external motivation with learning outcomes at a peripheral university in the province of Aceh. It also aims to evaluate which of the two factors possess stronger impact on the other across different genders. Design/Methodology/Approach-The model of research utilizes quantitative approach. Using the questionnaires as data gathering methodology, it is designed to understand aspects of both internal and external motivation which influences the results. Correlational information was then derived from the data using SPSS software. Then, data were elaborated for more detail and ease of reading for readers. Findings-The results obtained from this research showed that there was no relationship between both internal and external motivation with students grades. Claiming to have relatively high motivation, still students failed to attain good grades. Observed individually, no apparent relationship was visible from each aspect. The finding also suggested that there was no difference impact was visible across different gender. Both genders, male and female, in this university did not show any significant correlation between motivation and grades. Research limitations/Implications-Unlike many findings on similar studies, the research found out that motivation cannot be utilized as predictor to predict grades in the peripheral university. New approaches should be developed to find out working predictors for students grades. Practical Implications-To understand influencing aspects for students' grades attainment, more and or other variables should be utilized. Both internal and external motivation factors failed to predict students' grades. Originality/Value-Research on students learning motivation specifically at peripheral university was much been studied.
Selain Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) yang telah banyak diteirma secara internasional, Tes International English Language Testing Services (IELTS) merupakan standard tes uji kemampuan berbahasa Inggris yang valid dan terpercaya. IELTS banyak digunakan di dunia khususnya Inggris dan negara-negara persemakmuran. Namun, masih banyak guru di Aceh yang belum familiar dengan format tes ini, apalagi mengikuti tesnya. Oleh karena itu, tim dosen Bahasa Inggris Universitas Malikussaleh melaksanakan program pelatihan IELTS kepada guru-guru SMU dan SMK Se-Kota Lhokseumawe agar mereka lebih faham dengan pola tes ini dan mampu mengikuti tes di kemudian hari. Pelatihan ini diikuti oleh 25 peserta yang merupakan guru bahasa Inggris tingkat Sekolah Menengah Atas, SMU dan SMK di wilayah pemerintahan Kota Lhokseumawe. Para peserta mempelajari materi dan kisi-kisi soal listening, reading, writing dan speaking. 3 orang tutor turut mengisi sessi materi dan mengajarkan keempat skill dan jenis soal IELTS kepada peserta. Para peserta antusias dan berharap dilibatkan pada tahap pelatihan IELTS selanjutnya. 3 peserta menunjukkan tiingkat pemahaman yang lebih menonjol dibandingkan peserta lain. Mereka mampu menjawab soal dengan baik dan memberikan jawaban yang benar. 4 peserta lainnya menunjukkan potensi yang baik dalam materi yang diajarkan. Mereka tampil dengan jawaban yang kreatif walau dibutuhkan arahan lebih lanjut. 18 Peserta lainnya masih membutuhkan arahan dan pembelajaran lebih lanjut.
