The practice of code mixing in Instagram online shop advertisements is common in Indonesia, however, not much research has been conducted with regards to the government's regulation on the use of language on social media. This study aims to investigate the use of code mixing in e-commerce on Instagram. The method used in this research is qualitative using observation techniques, documentation and interviews. Data were taken from 10 Instagram account online shop advertisements by using purposive sampling. This study indicates that the use of code mixing occurred in the forms of words, phrases, and clauses. In addition, there is also internal code mixing, namely in the form of affixes. It turns out that this codemixing practice was motivated by their intention of making their communication more relaxed and flexible. In conclusion, the code-mixing practice of instagrammers in making online shop advertisements is not in line with the government's regulation pertaining to language use on social media.
The success of Reading to Learn (R2L) in improving literacy skills in several countries in the world encourages teachers in Indonesia to implement it. In accordance with the national literacy movement program developed by the government, this strategy will greatly assist the ability to read and to write of Indonesian students, not only for foreign language learning but can also be applied to local language learning. For this reason, this study aims to study to what extent the reading to learn the strategy (R2L) helps the students of Sundanese Language Education at UPI in improving their writing skills. This study employed action research by using data recording techniques and documentation. The results revealed that there are difficulties faced by students in Sundanese language writing as the result of an incorrect understanding of concepts in learning at primary, secondary, and high school levels. However, after implementing the R2L strategy it turns out that the effect is quite good as it is seen from the students writing improvement exposed in each cycle. It can be concluded that the R2L strategy implementation is very helpful for students both in writing appropriate Sundanese language and understanding the reading text. This strategy can also be implemented in local language teaching and learning at each level.
This research is motivated by the presence of nyimur traditions in the community life of the native village of Kasepuhan Ciptagelar, South Sukabumi, Indonesia. This tradition is held every year and is believed to be a healing ceremony and refusing bad luck so that the life of a child in the future will be physically and mentally healthy. This study attempts to investigate the procession of nyimur traditional ceremony. This study was conducted using a descriptive-analytical study. The data were collected using interview techniques. The findings showed that nyimur tradition existed in Kasepuhan Ciptagelar and had certain procedures and functions of the tradition. The study also investigated the knowledge of the indigenous people of Kasepuhan Ciptagelar about the tradition of nyimur and its relationship to the healing/refusing bad luck method in the traditional knowledge system of Kasepuhan Ciptagelar Indigenous Peoples since hundreds of years ago. It can be concluded that this tradition is included in the community's knowledge system that should be maintained since it includes human knowledge, especially the community of Kasepuhan Ciptagelar regarding matters or elements used in their lives.
Nowadays, many people are attracted to almost extinct traditions, such as Ngaras and Siraman, in Sundanese weddings. Prominent figures, celebrities, actresses/actors, and ordinary people have re-implemented these traditions, but only a few know the content and local wisdom of the practices. This study aimed to examine Ngaras and Siraman and explore the local wisdom values of the traditions used to build students' character through education. The research method used was descriptive-qualitative analysis. Data were collected through literature and documentation review. The analysis revealed thatt Ngaras and Siraman are rituals done before akad nikah (marriage covenant). There are values of Sundanese local wisdom presented by the traditions when viewed from the practice, meaning, and function. First, the values are Trisilas (Three Bases), Catur Jati Diri Insani (Superior Human), and Gapura Pancawaluya (the Gate of Five Pillars of Completeness). Second, these values serve as good moral practices related to someone's relationships with God, himself, other human beings, nature, and time. Third, such values form morals function to pursue further implementation of ethno-pedagogy in school.
Film merupakan produk kebudayaan populer yang merepresentasikan dan mengonstruksikan kehidupan suatu masyarakat. Pandangan mimetik ini mengimplikasikan kedudukan film sebagai rekaman atau cerminan atas realitas sosial kemasyarakatan. Film Ziarah (2017) adalah film bergenre drama yang mengisahkan tokoh Mbah Sri, seorang perempuan berusia 95 tahun, yang mencari suaminya karena tidak kunjung pulang dan/atau tidak berkabar setelah berpamitan mengikuti perang Agresi Militer II tahun 1948. Film ini sepenuhnya mendasarkan alur cerita pada Mbah Sri sebagai pewaris ingatan terhadap peristiwa kesejarahan yang dialami suaminya. Kecenderungan ini merepresentasikan pandangan Mbah Sri mengenai filsafat Jawa dan nilai pendidikan karakter yang diyakininya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan jenis deskriptif melalui teknik analisis hermeneutika Paul Ricoeur. Hasil penelitian dipaparkan sebagai berikut. Pertama, film Ziarah (2017) mengartikulasikan filsafat sangkan paran ning dumadi sebagai keyakinan atas posisi manusia di bumi yang bersifat sementara melalui proyeksi perjalanan tokoh Mbah Sri selama mencari mendiang suami. Kedua, film Ziarah (2017) menekankan peristiwa Agresi Militer II tahun 1948 sebagai memori sosial-kolektif sehingga nilai nasionalisme dan patriotisme terkandung di dalamnya. Ketiga, pendidikan karakter yang tercermin dalam film Ziarah (2017) didominasi oleh proses peneladanan budi pekerti pemimpin bangsa, tokoh sejarah, dan kebudayaan suatu daerah.
