Pada umumnya, kota memiliki kawasan yang dikembangkan sebagai pusat aktivitas komersial. Pola perkembangan aktivitas komersial melahirkan tipologi pedestrian shopping street yang mengutamakan pejalan kaki dalam pola dan sistem aktivitasnya. Jalan Tunjungan Surabaya merupakan contoh kawasan perbelanjaan berbasis pejalan kaki yang dikembangkan pada masa pemerintahan Gemeente. Sejalan dengan perkembangan kota Surabaya, keunikan urban artefak kawasan Tunjungan bertransformasi dan kini didominasi bangunan bertingkat serta Jalan Tunjungan berubah menjadi poros kota. Keunikan Jalan Tunjungan yang menjadi daya tarik wisata terancam punah akibat tekanan dan tuntutan perkembangan perekonomian Surabaya. Melalui pendekatan sinkronik-diakronik dengan metode kualitatif-deskriptif, kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi pola, tipe, dan sistem yang membentuk karakteristik fisik-spasial pedestrian shopping street Jalan Tunjungan yang bertahan, beradaptasi, dan hilang akibat transformasi Surabaya sebagai kota metropolitan. Dari analisa komparasi, ditemukan bahwa yang bertahan hanya pola linearitas tatanan bangunan. Tipe jalan beradaptasi menjadi avenue searah dengan pembagian lajur jelas dengan penambahan sistem perparkiran on site. Selain itu, tipe bangunan beradaptasi menjadi bangunan komersial. Karakteristik arcade di beberapa bangunan hilang, sistem transportasi menghilangkan halte penumpang, jembatan tidak lagi berfungsi, dan juga pola perparkiran menganggu pola pedestrian. Jalan Tunjungan yang dulunya mengedepankan pengalaman berbelanja dan berjalan kaki mengalami degradasi menjadi area shopping street.
Cimahi City was originally one part of Bandung Regency, with rapid growth finally established as an administrative city on January 29, 1976, then became autonomous city on June 21, 2001. Cimahi currently become one of the growth areas of Bandung in the West. The current population is 561,386, with an average growth of 2.12% per year (source: population database of Cimahi City 2014). Green Open Space (RTH) in several cities in West Java has decreased both in terms of quality and quantity. This has the effect of reducing urban environmental quality and causing urban problems such as floods, especially in the rainy season, increasing air pollution, and decreasing urban happiness index due to the lack of open space available for social interaction. The similarity of the configuration of the arrangement of the site in this case the similarity of the typology of building mass composition, the number of occupants and the target of the residents of low income (MBR) of the two rusunawa Cimahi City, namely Cibeureum and Leuwigajah interesting to examine which is more effective the arrangement of green space and its utilization and the determinants what's playing. In the management, maintenance and utilization of the flats RTH is the main responsibility of apartment managers, in this case the Cimahi Municipal Government, but the involvement of all residents in maintaining and maintaining cleanliness, especially in disposing of waste in place and use the facilities provided responsibly.
Bali Island is a famous tourist destination in the world and this has made it a gathering hub and multicultural meeting center for tourists from several countries, thereby, raising concern on the possibility of the area losing its traditional Balinese architecture. It is necessary to make adjustments by adopting the shape of the old Balinese building. This means the emergence of new functions is not a taboo but a new design challenge, therefore, the traditional Balinese architecture and theater provisions were combined to produce a neo-vernacular architecture by using descriptive qualitative method. The Banjarmasin city is located in territorial waters. The development is currently causing problems related to the context of the aquatic environment. This is because urban development planning is not in accordance with the environmental context. Therefore, this article aims to determine the sustainability of water-based settlements in aquatic environment in Banjarmasin city. This is a qualitative article with the descriptive method used to explain the environmental structure and architectural elements of water-based settlements. Primary and secondary data were obtained from field observations and the city government in the form of maps and pictures of settlements. The data collected were analyzed with the descriptive approach and concluded using the deductive method. This article reveals the form of residence due to community adaptation to water areas and finds that urban spatial development policies need to understand the community's adaptation process as a local brand of city identity. The concept of 'living with water is a future challenge because it is a water-based cultural adaptation strategy. The architecture of the floating residence has the opportunity to be developed into a floating settlement and city. Therefore, the adaptation of residential architectural forms and environmental structures supports the Banjarmasin city as a waterfront city.
Pasar Baru sebagai salah satu simpul pertumbuhan pusat Kota Bandung yang perkembangannya turut membentuk karakteristik perkotaan kawasan pusat Kota Bandung. Lingkungan ini mengalami perubahan dan transformasi pada pola, tipe, maupun sistem yang terkait dengan lingkungan fisiknya, selama awal pembentukan kawasan hingga kini. Tujuan kajian ini untuk mendeskripsikan perubahan terkait non-fisik, transformasi, serta permanensi pada lingkungan Pasar Baru Bandung yang mempengaruhi perubahan karakteristiknya. Pendekatan studi adalah sinkronik-diakronik dengan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan historical reading dari tahun 1906 hingga 2019 dan tissue analysis pada tahun 2019. Kajian dilakukan di sekitar Pasar Baru Bandung termasuk Jalan Otto Iskandardinata, Jalan ABC, Jalan Pecinan Lama, Jalan Alkateri dan jalan- kecil diantaranya. Hasil dari kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa perubahan sistem seringkali terjadi pada akses dalam lingkungan, namun akses tidak mengalami transformasi signifikan dikomparasikan dengan fisik bangunan. Fungsi pada lingkungan bila dibandingkan dengan fisik bangungan cenderung permanen bila dibandingkan dengan transformasi pada bangunan dan kepadatan massa lingkungannya.
