Histopathological characteristics of dental socket healing on collagen density following use of pangas catfish (Pangasius djambal) gelatin

Abstract: Tooth extraction is a common treatment in dental practice. However, complications such as bleeding or dry socket may occur during healing process. Pangas catfish (Pangasius djambal) gelatin contains glutamine which could increase the proliferation of fibroblast, accordingly collagen synthesis increases. The study aimed to demonstrate collagen density after the application of pangas catfish gelatin on post-tooth extraction wound of albino rats (Rattus norvegicus). This wasan experimental study with randomized p… Show more

“…This is in line with previous research, which said that the thickness of collagen would continue to increase from the 3 rd day after tooth extraction to the 14 th day with a denser collagen image. 28,14 However, collagen thickness decreased on the 28 th day in each group. This decrease in collagen thickness occurs because collagen fibers begin to be replaced with bone matrix.…”

“…However, it remained a normal inflammatory phase, resulting in low collagen stimulation. 28 On the 14 th day, osteoblast cells showed a higher average number in each group compared to the 28 th day. This shows that on the Figures 1A and 1C, on the 14 th day the bone healing process was dominated by osteoblast cells activity.…”

“…Endothelial cell proliferation marks the beginning of angiogenesis. Endothelial cells grow, migrate, and then attach to the extracellular matrix, where they differentiate into new blood vessels [37][38][39] . Snail mucus can stimulate these processes remarkably.…”

“…Even in some cases, tooth extraction can cause complications during the healing process if not handled properly. 1,2 There are phases of inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling/maturation as the three stages of wound healing. There are differences in the role of cells and the biological processes of each of the above stages.…”
