Aiming for converters with high efficiency and high power density demands converter topologies with zero-voltage switching (ZVS) capabilities. This paper shows, that in order to determine whether ZVS is provided at a given operating point, the stored charge within in the MOSFETs has to be considered and the condition LI 2 ≥ 2QossVDC has to be fulfilled. In the case of incomplete soft-switching, non-zero losses occur which are analytically derived and experimentally verified in this paper. Furthermore, the issue of non-ideal soft-switching behavior of Si super-junction MOSFETs is addressed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
