Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) was accomplished using different volumes of cauliflower extract and 0.001 M silver nitrate solution at 80°C for 15 min. A brownish-red solution of AgNPs formed was tested by ultraviolet-visible absorption spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Surface plasmon resonance of AgNPs appeared at 416 nm. Also, the kinetic of AgNPs formation was studied and follows a sigmoidal pattern. Storing time was studied for the freshly prepared AgNPs after 60 days. FTIR analysis shows the adsorption of active components on AgNPs surface, and these components are responsible for reduction besides working as a stabiliser like a capping agent, also FTIR analysis of AgNPs after storage showed no change in peaks location. The SEM exhibited a globular shape of AgNPs, and the particle size ranged from 25 to 100 nm, while the XRD particle size calculation was 25 nm with cubic phase lattice. The antibacterial activity was tested against Gram-positive and-negative bacteria showed an inhibition zone of 16-27 mm and the antibacterial activity tested for the same bacteria after storage for about 10 months showed an inhibition zone of 6-10 mm.
Acinetobacter spp. have risen as important pathogens in medicinal services related contaminations. Carbapenems are vital antimicrobial agents for treating diseases due to multidrug resistant Acinetobacter spp. Resistance to these drugs in the genus, may beconferred by different mechanisms particularly production of class D carbapenemases. OXA-23-like family has been brought up as one of the dominating carbapenemases among Acinetobacter. The present study aimed to investigate the occurrence of OXA-23-like carbapenemases among Acinetobacterisolatesrecovered from patients of hospitals in Babylon, Iraq. Antimicrobial susceptibility profiles were determined by disk-diffusion method.Imipenem resistant isolates were submitted to Modified Hodge Test and Double Disk Synergy Test to screen for carbapenemase generation, and later to polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to explore the presence of blaOXA-23 genes. One (10%) of isolates was observed to be imipenem and meropenem resistant (MIC > 512 μg/ml). 6(60%) gave positive results with the imipenem-EDTA disk and Modified Hodge test ; 4 isolates (40%) as indicated by PCR results, carried the blaOXA-23 genes. OXA-23-like enzymes might be a critical component of carbapenem resistance among isolates present in the hospitals studied.
Samples were collected during the period from 1/2 to 15/6 from some private clinics in the province of Babylon of women who suffer from frequent infections in the genital tract and urinary for the purpose of knowing the relationship between parasite Trichomonas vaginalis and Malignant cells .Current study included (250) samples cervical swap , the samples were examined by a wet swab and centrifugation, also examined samples mediated Pap smear was incidence of (20%) mediated wet swab and (22%) mediated centrifuge without significant differences while we did not notice the presence of malignant cells mediated by Pap smear. The study involved measuring the rate of iron and calcium in the blood, was the rate of iron (55.30 μg / dl), while the rate of calcium was (9.10 mg / dl) without significant differences.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
