This paper aims to analyze the high quality of agricultural human capital and social indicators in improving the performance of national development and to formulate their communication patterns to support capacity building of human and social capital of agriculture in every line of agricultural development. The lack of agricultural human capital and social capital capacity is one of the constraints causing the accessibility limitation for Indonesian agriculture to face the global competition. The low farmer's education attainment has caused a low capacity of farmers to manage information and to adopt new technology resulting the low products quality. At the extension level, the shortage number and quality of the extension workers has also contributed to that situation. Beside low of basic capability, most of the extension workers do not have adequate mental capacity, especially related to integrity, communication skills, and moral and ethical capacity. At the policy maker's level, many local government institutions have no capacity to mapping agricultural resources along with their capability to make use of the available resources. With the high technical ability, agricultural human resource as a capital resource and as a social resource should have shared values and rules that expressed through personal relationships, trust, and common sense about the community responsibilities. To strengthen agricultural sector In supporting national development, agricultural sector need appropriate communication patterns for agricultural human resource improvement at each level of agricultural development. Such communication pattern should be based on the convergent-interaction communication through knowledge sharing model. This model is appropriate for both agricultural personnel and for farmers. Through active role of various institutions within the Ministry of Agriculture and with the help of modern information technology, a network to reach farmers could be achieved. The extension workers or village facilitators are required in the development of agricultural community because of its important function as problem analyst, group supervisor, trainers, innovators, and liaison officers. Key words: communication patterns, human capital, social capital, agricultural resources, agricultural development, capacity building of agricultural human resources. Land destination is ideally for people's welfare but it is actually under the control of some corporations. As a result, land conflicts increase year by year in Indonesia. However, these are frequently overlooked. Despite the land conflicts are handled, these discredit peasants. The peasants are the ones who always get lost when their opponents are large corporations or the government itself. Therefore, the birth of peasants' resistance movement is a form of their defense and rebellion. A peasant resistance movement in Indonesia is the peasant movement carried out by STTB (United Telukjambe Peasants Association). The STTB association carried out a suicide action in front of Presidential Palace. It was the most extreme action that Indonesian peasant unions had ever done. The research goal is to analyze fantasy themes that the STTB peasants have when they have physical clashes with PT. Pertiwi Lestari. The theory used in this research is the Symbolic Convergence Theory with the Basic Concept level. The research method is a qualitative case study approach. The research analysis in this paper is Fantasy Theme Analysis (FTA). The data collection techniques in this research are the Forum Group Discussion (FGD), interviews and observations. The research results show that the fantasy themes that the STTB peasants have are a common fate, a feeling of togetherness, freedom to work on land and to own house, fighting for land rights. These fantasy themes can be used as communication strategies and therefore, the STTB peasants become more solid and integrated.
Aim: The objective of this research was understanding slaughterhouses sustainability and the prospection status in special region of Jakarta Province Indonesia. Materials and Methods: The concept of sustainable slaughterhouse was formed based on social, economy, ecology, technology, and institutional dimension. Research objects were three types of slaughterhouses in Special Capital Region of Jakarta Indonesia; pig slaughterhouse, chicken slaughterhouse, and ruminant slaughterhouse. Tools used were questionnaires to assess the perception of people living around slaughterhouses, assessment of the knowledge, attitude, and practice from slaughterhouse management, along with assessment and focus group discussion for sustainability test. Methods used were descriptive analysis and sustainability test by multidimensional scaling method. Data collected consisted of primary and secondary data. Primary data were obtained by field survey, interview, questionnaire, measurement of the waste threshold, and microbe contamination, whereas secondary data were obtained from slaughterhouse agency. Data were analyzed with IBM statistical package for the social sciences (SPSS®) version 18 to calculate characteristic, variables correlation, sustainability test with Rapfish® modified into Rap slaughterhouse, and prospective analysis with PPA. Results: The level of sustainability for pig slaughterhouse was moderately sustainable with 0.5173 index value, ruminant slaughterhouse was moderately sustainable with 0.5171 index value, and chicken slaughterhouse was moderately unsustainable with 0.4530 index value. Conclusion: Scenario on policies that should be applied in ruminant slaughterhouse was increasing the use of waste as biogas; for chicken slaughterhouse was increasing promotion and for pig slaughterhouse was increasing product quality control. The implication of this research was to provide input based on a scientific study for the local government of Jakarta in managing the slaughterhouses.

ABSTRACT

It is generally believed that there is a positive relationship among the following three variables, which are cohesiveness, job satisfaction, and job performance. Good job performance of a group of workers needs good coorperation among the group members. Good cooperation can be viewed as the outcome of group cohesiveness. In addition, good job performance needs good job satisfaction. Furthermore, it is also commonly believed that group cohesiveness is positively related with job satisfaction. The objective of this study is to empirically test the phenomenon by conducting a survey on 102 respondents who are administrative staff in Bogor Agricultural University. A quantitative model namely Structural Equation Model (SEM) was utilized. It is concluded that cohesiveness positively effects job satisfaction as well as well as job performance. However, it is found that there is no statistically significant effect of job satisfaction on job performance.

Indonesia is the greatest producer of oil palm in the world ABSTRAKIndonesia merupakan negara produsen minyak kelapa sawit terbesar di dunia.
